Innovative Work Behavior of Santri: The Influence of Proactive Personality and Boarding School Climate

Islamic boarding schools as Islamic education institutions in Indonesia have an important role in developing students holistically. Santri in addition acquire religious knowledge but must also be able to adapt to the times. For this reason, innovation and proactive behavior are the qualities needed by santri. An adequate boarding school environment should support the innovation of students, and the school climate in the boarding school has an important role in this. Islamic boarding schools also have a uniqueness in shaping the behavior of students by emphasizing the religious and moral character of Islam. Fulfillment of a comfortable school climate in Islamic boarding schools is important to achieve this goal. This study aims to examine the effect of proactive behavior and the school climate on santri’s innovative work behavior. The sampling technique uses non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data collection used three questionnaires consisting of an innovative work behavior scale, a proactive personality scale and an organizational climate scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis. A total of 219 santri at Boarding school Gontor participated in this research, as a pesantren known for its characteristics and potential for developing student innovation. The results indicate that there is a significant effect of proactive behavior and the school climate for santri’s innovative work behavior (sig < .05) and the proportion of variance by 14.9%. Suggestion implications, there is a need for the development of proactive behavior programs among santri and the creation of a physical and psychological environment within Boarding school that supports santri innovation.

Adaptation and validation of a Korean version of the speaking up about patient safety questionnaire (KSUPS-Q)

BackgroundSpeaking up by healthcare providers is an essential assertive communication strategy for ensuring patient safety and preventing incidents. However, more is needed to know about speaking up and instruments to assess it in the Korean context. Therefore, we assessed the psychometric properties of the Korean version of the Speaking Up about Patient Safety Questionnaire (KSUPS-Q) for measuring speaking up-related behavior and climate among nurses.MethodsThe translation and adaptation process followed the guidelines of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research and the World Health Organization. Content validity was assessed by a six-member expert panel using the content validity index. In total, 314 nurses participated in an online survey to examine the psychometric properties. Internal consistencies were tested using Cronbach’s alpha and McDonald’s omega. Confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to examine the subscales’ construct. The convergent validity of the speaking up-related climate scale was assessed by testing correlations with teamwork and safety climate domains of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire. In addition, we investigated the convergent validity of the speaking up-related behavior scale by examining its correlation with the climate scale.ResultsThe reliability of the 11-item behavior scale was satisfactory. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that a three-subscale model (perceived concerns, withholding voice, and speaking up) was appropriate (CFI = 0.98, TLI = 0.98, and SRMR = 0.05). Furthermore, the 11-item climate scale demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency. A three-subscale model (psychological safety, encouraging environment, and resignation) was confirmed (CFI = 0.98, TLI = 0.97, and SRMR = 0.05). The convergent validity of the climate scale was verified based on correlations with the teamwork (r = 0.68, p < 0.001) and safety climate (r = 0.68, p < 0.001) domains of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire. In addition, speaking up-related behavior and climate showed a significant association, indicating that the behavior scale is conceptually valid.ConclusionsThis study demonstrates that the KSUPS-Q is a valid and reliable instrument in Korea. This instrument can help nurse managers simultaneously monitor the behavior and climate of their organizations and evaluate the outcomes of interventions to enhance speaking up. Future research is needed to explore diverse factors contributing to speaking up, including clinical roles, team relationships, and supportive culture, to identify areas requiring further improvement.

Organizational Climate Scale for Public Service: Development and Validation

This research presents four studies that developed and validated the Organizational Climate Perception Scale for Public Service (OCPS-PS). The first qualitative study consulted the literature and conducted a focus group to develop the initial version of the scale. The second study involved expert evaluation and pre-testing, aiming at the semantic and face validation of the items. This study resulted in 80 items forming the thirteen dimensions of organizational climate. The third study obtained the first quantitative sample for the exploratory validation phase of the scale. The final study, using a new sample, conducted confirmatory tests for the validation of the scale. A methodology for applying the scale was developed, allowing all interested parties to use the OCPS-PS for the assessment of the organizational climate in public service. The results of the four conducted studies indicate the adequacy of the OCPS-PS according to the proposed criteria of validity and reliability. Finally, the OCPS-OS was built to be applied in different public organizations and at different government levels.

Validation of the Academic School Climate Scale for Students

This study sought to develop an Academic School Climate Scale measuring students’ perceptions of the learning environments at their schools. With a pilot sample of 1,265 students and validation sample of 14,773 students in Grades 4–12 in schools across the U.S., results of EFA and CFA supported a bifactor model with a general factor and three subscales: High Standards, Teacher Support of Student Learning, and Peer Support of Learning. We found scalar invariance by gender and race, and metric invariance by grade band. Correlations of the Academic School Climate Scale with open classroom climate and school climate indicated concurrent validity.

Studi Korelasi: Iklim Sekolah dengan Perilaku Perundungan Pada Siswa

The purpose of this research is to find the correlations of bullying behavior and school climate students at SMKN A. At this research, the total sample is 330 students and the sampling technique was in Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. The measuring instruments used are the bullying behavior scale (20 items) and the school climate scale (25 items). The data analysis technique uses the product moment correlation technique. Based on the results of data analysis, the correlation coefficient (r) for -0.82 with a significance (p) of 0.000 (p &lt; 0.05). Therefore, the hypothesat this research was accepted as the conclusion of the relationship in the direction of a negative between school climate and bullying behavior. The practical implication is that this research can be used as reference material for students to respond better to the school climate and as a guide in improving their social behavior at school.

A Mixed-Method Study on the Assessment of Factors Influencing Nurses' Provision of Spiritual Care.

A mixed-method study design, incorporating both quantitative (questionnaire) and qualitative research, was used for this study (focus group discussion). The questionnaires were completed by a convenience sample of nurses and their assistants working in two public hospitals. These questionnaires included the Greek versions of the FACIT-Sp-12, SCIPS, NEO-FFI, and the Spiritual Climate Scale, as well as a specially designed questionnaire to gather demographic, socioeconomic, and professional information about the study population (SCS). Three nurses and two nursing assistants who worked in public hospitals and were chosen through purposive sampling made up the sample for the qualitative study. In utilizing inductive content analysis methodology, a qualitative analysis was carried out. Greek nurses frequently offer spiritual care to their patients, primarily existential spiritual care. It was discovered that the spiritual climate, the nurses' positive coherence, and their educational level all exert a favorable effect on total spiritual care. Three categories and seven subcategories were used to describe the participants' prior experiences with spiritual care. Greek nurses frequently offer spiritual care to their patients, and both internal and external factors influence their attitudes in this regard.

PURCHASING TEAM INNOVATION CLIMATES AS ANTECEDENTS OF PURCHASING INVOLVEMENT IN OPEN INNOVATION

This study aims to enhance our understanding of the relationship between team innovation climate within the purchasing team and the level of purchasing involvement in open innovation (OI) initiatives. Previous research in psychology and management has documented the impact of team climate on innovation capacity. Furthermore, the purchasing function has been recognised as a bridge between internal and external resources in OI. However, to date, research has not examined the link between the team innovation climate and the role of the purchasing function in OI initiatives. To address this gap, we studied a sample of 258 purchasing teams across industries in France based on a self-audit and questionnaire using established team innovation climate scales. From our analyses, four dimensions of the purchasing team climate towards innovation emerge: the team cohesiveness, the team creativity, the leader support for innovation and the institutional support for innovation. We subsequently conduct regression and necessary condition analysis. Our results show that institutional support is both necessary and positively related to involvement. Moreover, purchasing’s ability to contribute to inbound OI is constrained by each of the four dimensions of the team innovation climate, to various extents. Our work thereby elucidates the individual elements and the collective impact of the team innovation climate that enable the exploitation of the innovative potential of suppliers through purchasing’s bridge function between external and internal innovation actors providing new insights into the human side of OI at team level. Managerial Highlights • Team innovation climate plays an important role in the management of open innovation. • Team innovation climate influences the purchasing team’s involvement in open innovation projects of its firm i.e. the way its open innovation is managed. • There are four dimensions affecting the purchasing team innovation climate: institutional support, team leader support, team creativity and team cohesiveness. • High levels of involvement of the purchasing function do not occur without at least medium levels of these four dimensions. • Only institutional support is directly and positively related to the increasing level of involvement of purchasing in open innovation initiatives.

A Systematic Review with a Meta-Analysis of the Motivational Climate and Hedonic Well-Being Constructs: The Importance of the Athlete Level.

Motivational climate is known to relate to individual behaviors, emotions, and thoughts. Hedonic or subjective well-being includes self-assessed positive affect (i.e., pleasant affect, moods, and emotions), negative affect (i.e., unpleasant affect, moods, and emotions), and life or domain-specific satisfaction. The aim of this review was to quantify the relationships between task and ego motivational climate scales and measures representing hedonic well-being with sports participants. Potential moderators of the motivational climate and hedonic well-being were examined. This review followed the PRISMA guidelines (PROSPERO ID CRD42023470462, registered 28 October 2023). From five relevant databases, one relevant review, and hand searching, 82 articles totaling 26,378 participants (46.3% female) met the inclusion criteria. The articles spanned publication dates from 1993 to 2023, representing 18 countries, various team and individual sports, and athletes competing in elite (e.g., Olympic) to grassroot (e.g., club sport) competitions. To meta-analyze the motivational climate and hedonic well-being relationships, the random-effects model was used. For the moderation analyses, the mixed-effects model was used. The task or mastery climate relationships were medium in magnitude with positive affect and satisfaction and small with negative affect. The ego or performance climate relationships were small in magnitude for positive affect, negative affect, and satisfaction. Evidence of bias existed in the motivational climate and hedonic well-being relationships. For moderation analyses, athlete level (i.e., elite vs. non-elite) moderated (p < 0.05) the task (elite, r = 0.23; non-elite, r = 0.34) and ego motivational climate (elite, r = -0.02; non-elite, r = -0.13) and positive affect and satisfaction combined relationships. In conclusion, the motivational climate and hedonic well-being relationships were stronger for the task climate than for the ego climate. The finding that elite athlete correlations appeared dampened is important for future research. Even with the damped relationships, practitioners, from the Olympics to local clubs, should ensure the promotion of the task climate to maximize positive affect and satisfactions in and around the sport experience.

The impact of perceived organizational justice on young nurses’ job performance: a chain mediating role of organizational climate and job embeddedness

BackgroundThe level of nurses’ job performance has always been of great concern, which not only represents the level of nursing service quality but is also closely related to patients’ treatment and prognosis. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between perceived organizational justice and job performance and to explore the mediating role of organizational climate and job embeddedness among young Chinese nurses.MethodsA cross-sectional survey of 1136 young nurses was conducted between March and May 2023 using convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Job Performance Scale, Organizational Justice Assessment Scale, Nursing Organizational Climate Scale, and Job Embeddedness Scale, and the resulting data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 26.0.ResultsThere was a significant positive correlation between job performance and perceived organizational justice (r = 0.477, p < 0.01), organizational climate (r = 0.500, p < 0.01), and job embeddedness (r = 0.476, p < 0.01). Organizational climate and job embeddedness acted as chain mediators between perceived organizational justice and job performance. The total effect of perceived organizational justice on job performance (β = 0.513) consisted of a direct effect (β = 0.311) as well as an indirect effect (β = 0.202) mediated through organizational climate and job embeddedness, with the mediating effect accounting for 39.38% of the total effect.ConclusionsOrganizational climate and job embeddedness play a chain mediating role between perceived organizational justice and job performance, so hospital managers should pay attention to the level of perceived organizational justice among young nurses, and develop a series of targeted measures to improve their job performance using organizational climate and job embeddedness as entry points.

Family climate and its relationship to psychological resilience among counseling students in Jordan

ABSTRACT The current study aimed to identify the relationships among family climate characteristics and psychological resilience among (female) counselling students at one university in Jordan. A family climate scale and a psychological resilience scale were administered to a sample of 157 students. Results indicated high levels of both positive family climate and psychological resilience, with no differences in family climate shown due to the variables of birth order or academic year. Differences appeared in psychological resilience according to the birth order variable in favour of the eldest girl in the family, and according to the academic year variable and in favour of the fourth-year students. Positive family climate was positively correlated with psychological resilience.”

Family Climate and its Relationship to the Level of Psychological Flow among Students of the Faculty of Education at Al-Azhar University-Gaza

The study aimed to identify the relationship between family climate and psychological flow among students of the Faculty of Education at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, the sample consisted of (200), male and female students from the Faculty of Education at Al-Azhar University from the second and fourth levels who were chosen by the stratified sampling method. The study used the family climate scale prepared by Muhammad Bayoumi Khalil (2000), and the psychological flow scale prepared by (the researcher). The results of the study showed: There was a positive relationship between family climate and psychological flow among the study sample members. There were differences in psychological flow due to the difference in the level of the family climate (low, high), and the differences were in favor of the higher positive family climate. There were no differences in the family climate and psychological flow due to the gender variable. There were differences in the family climate due to the variable of the academic level, and the differences were in favor of the second level. There were no differences in the level of psychological flow due to the academic level variable.

Safety climate and safety behaviors: Adapting and validating a positively worded safety climate scale through the time-lagged approach.

Contemporary literature raises serious questions about the inclusion of negatively worded items in the safety climate scale. Despite these reservations, limited efforts have been made to address this shortcoming. The present study aims to adapt and empirically validate the ten-items group-level safety climate scale with the purpose of replacing negatively worded items with positively worded ones after a thorough validation process. The present study is one of the first to propose an empirically validated group-level safety climate scale that uses positive items to measure the safety climate construct. Study 1 was conducted using a sample of 135 participants. Study 2 used a time-lagged approach to validate the scale, with a sample of 173 production workers from six oil and gas organizations in Malaysia. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method was used to test the hypothesized relationships. In Study 1, the results of the exploratory factor analysis showed good reliability for the revised scale. In Study 2, the results of the PLS-SEM analysis demonstrated a positive relationship between safety climate and safety behaviors, thereby validating the revised and translated scale of safety climate. The revised safety climate scale will not only improve data quality, but it will also increase response rates. Additionally, the revised scale will assist managers in understanding the true perceptions of safety climate in their organization, regardless of the cultural context in which the scale is used.

Exploring the influencing factors of patient safety competency of clinical nurses: a cross-sectional study based on latent profile analysis

BackgroundClinical nurses play an important role in ensuring patient safety. Nurses’ work experience, organizational environment, psychological cognition, and behavior can all lead to patient safety issues. Improving nurses’ attention to patient safety issues and enhancing their competence in dealing with complex medical safety issues can help avoid preventable nursing adverse events. Therefore, it is necessary to actively identify the latent profiles of patient safety competency of clinical nurses and to explore the influencing factors.MethodsA cross-sectional design was conducted. A total of 782 Chinese registered nurses were included in the study. Demographic characteristics questionnaire, Error Management Climate scale, Security Questionnaire, Proactive Behavior Performance scale and Patient Safety Competency Self-Rating Scale of Nurses were used. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was performed to categorize nurses into latent subgroups with patient safety competency differences. Multinomial logistic regression was conducted to explore the influencing factors of nurses’ patient safety competency (PSC) in different latent profiles.ResultsA total of 782 questionnaires were valid. Nurses’ PSC was positively related to error management climate, and psychological safety and proactive behavior. The PSC score was 121.31 (SD = 19.51), showing that the PSC of clinical nurses was at the level of the medium on the high side. The error management climate score was 70.28 (SD = 11.93), which was at a relatively high level. The psychological safety score was 61.21 (SD = 13.44), indicating a moderate to low level. The proactive behavior score was 37.60 (SD = 7.33), which was at a high level. The latent profile analysis result showed that three groups of profile models were fitted acceding to the evaluation of PSC. They were defined as Low-competency Group (74 (9.5%)), Medium-competency Group (378 (48.3%)) and High-competency Group (330 (42.2%). Working years, professional titles, departments, error management climate, psychological security and proactive behavior were the influencing factors of PSC in three latent profiles.ConclusionsThe PSC of clinical nurses had obvious classification characteristics, and the main influencing factors were working years, professional titles, working departments, error management climate, psychological security and proactive behavior. This study suggests that managers should pay attention to the continuous cultivation of patient safety competence among clinical nurses, provide targeted intervention measures for nurses at different work stages, professional titles, and departments, and use efficient management strategies to create a positive error management atmosphere. In patient safety management, providing nurses with more psychological security is conducive to stimulating more proactive behaviors and continuously improving the level of patient safety competence.

Objectives The purposes of this study were to the mediation effects of interaction styles in the relationships between perceived motivational climate and learning attitude in physical education class of middle school students.&#x0D; Methods The subjects of this study consisted of 323(boys 163, girls 163) middle school students. The data was collected by quota sampling method. The used instrument of this study were the Yoo(1997) for measuring motivation climate scale, the Hwang, Ahan, and Seo(2016) for measuring friend relationship and teacher-students relationship scale, and the Son, Kim, &amp; Lee(2006) for measuring learning attitude scale. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and a structural equation model as a statistical method.&#x0D; Results The results of this study was as follows. First, mastery climate positively influenced to teacher-students relationship and friend relationship, but performance climate positively influenced to friend relationship. Second, both mastery climate and performance climate positively influenced to learning attitude. Third, both teacher-students relationship and friend relationship positively influenced to learning attitude. Forth, there was partially mediates effect between mastery climate and learning attitude as a parameter fo the teacher-students relationship.&#x0D; Conclusions The purposes of this study was confirmed that motivation climate had partially mediates effect on learning attitude through the teacher-students relationship.&#x0D;

Association of nurse managers' paternalistic leadership and nurses' perceived workplace bullying: The mediating effect of organizational climate.

To explore the association between nurse managers' paternalistic leadership and nurses' perceived workplace bullying (WPB), as well as to examine the mediating role of organizational climate in this association. There is a lack of empirical evidence regarding the relationship between nurse managers' paternalistic leadership, organizational climate and nurses' perceived WPB. Clarifying this relationship is crucial to understand how paternalistic leadership influences WPB and for nursing managers to seek organizational-level solutions to prevent it. A cross-sectional survey was performed from 4 January to 10 February 2022, in six tertiary hospitals in mainland China. Demographic information, Paternalistic Leadership Scale, Organizational Climate Scale and Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised were used in the survey. Descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation analyses and a structural equation model were used for data analysis. A total of 5093 valid questionnaires were collected. Moral leadership and authoritarian leadership have both direct and indirect effects on WPB through the mediating effect of organizational climate. The former is negatively related to WPB and the latter is positively related to WPB. Benevolent leadership was only negatively associated with WPB via the mediating effect of organizational climate. The three components of paternalistic leadership have different effects on WPB through the mediating effect of organizational climate. Nurse managers are recommended to strengthen moral leadership, balance benevolent leadership, reduce authoritarian leadership and strive to create a positive organizational climate in their efforts to mitigate WPB among nurses. This study enhanced our comprehension of the relationship between different leadership styles and WPB. Greater emphasis should be placed on moral leadership in the promotion of nursing managers and nursing leadership training programs. Additionally, nursing managers should focus on establishing a positive organizational climate that helps to reduce WPB. No patient or public contribution. This study did not involve patients, service users, caregivers or members of the public.

Sustainable Development Competencies in Design Education

…there is a gap between the complexity and scale of climate and sustainability challenges and the professional competencies currently taught in most design education programs.Designers are expected to have a key role in addressing looming problems like climate change and sustainability. Examining current curricula and finding gaps in competencies provides a starting point to ensuring that future designers have the skills necessary for the job.

Cultural adaptation and psychometric properties of the online learning climate scale for Chilean university students.

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly changed university teaching and learning formats, leading to a significant increase in online learning. Consequently, the crisis has facilitated the potential development of this educational modality. However, researchers need adapted and validated instruments to assess the online learning climate in universities. This study aimed to adapt and psychometrically validate the Online Learning Climate Scale (OLCS) for Chilean university students. Quantitative research was conducted with a non-experimental and cross-sectional, design executed in two phases: the first was oriented to the cultural adaptation of the instrument, and the second was focused on analyzing its psychometric properties in a sample of 491 university students. A translated and culturally adapted version was obtained, composed of 15 items distributed in a factorial structure composed of four dimensions that showed excellent adjustment to the data [χ2 (84) = 189.628; p < 0.001; CFI = 0.979; TLI = 0.973; RMSEA = 0.051 (IC90% 0.044-0.059); SRMR = 0.028]; internal consistency was estimated through Cronbach's alpha and ranged between 0.892 and 0.955, and strict invariance between men and women was achieved. The Online Learning Climate Scale (OLCS) is a valid and reliable measure for measuring the online learning climate within the Chilean higher education context so that it can be used both in research and in monitoring management programs in educational environments.

The effectiveness of an interdisciplinary team in the VESTA Project at UnB

To analyze the effectiveness of the actions of an interdisciplinary team from the VESTA respirator research group. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The participants were members of the interdisciplinary team of the VESTA Project at UnB. Data was collected using the Research Electronic Data Capture - REDcap software platform between May and August 2023. The questionnaire consisted of: a characterization form, the Jefferson Scale of Attitudes Related to Interprofessional Collaboration (EJARCI) and the Team Climate Scale for the Hospital Context in Brazil (ECECHB). The results were analyzed individually and jointly using graphs downloaded from the REDcap platform and exported to Microsoft Excel in order to apply statistics. The sample consisted of twelve participants from different areas of knowledge. The professionals who took part in the research work in the areas of biological sciences n=1 (8.3%), exact sciences n=1 (8.3%), engineering n=1 (8.3%), human sciences n=1 (8.3%), but the vast majority are in the field of health sciences n=8 (66.7%). The analysis of the EJARCI showed that all the participants had attitudes in favor of interprofessional collaboration, and there were no significant differences in the responses in relation to professional area or level of education. In relation to the ECECHB, a generally positive perception was seen, with the item with the highest score being support for new ideas, with an average of 34.03; and the item with the lowest score being task orientation, with an average of 23.75. Multiprofessional and interprofessional work contributes positively to the implementation of good practices and the improvement of health care.

The reality of the moral climate and its relationship to the decision-making of boxing referees from the standpoint of coaches

The purpose of this paper is to identifying the relationship between the moral climate and the decision-making of boxing referees from the standpoint of the coaches, and the research problem lies through the work of the researchers in training and managing the teams. It was noted that the role of the referees is one of the most important roles played by the workers to achieve the objectives of the federation, and that the moral climate that prevails among the administrative body the union and the referees on the one hand and between the referees and coaches on the other hand are among the factors of the success of everyone’s work and the survival and strengthening of confidence in their work and thus the continuity of success and production and the achievement of goals, hence the desire to conduct this study, and the researchers used the descriptive approach in the manner of correlations to suit it with the nature of the research problem, The study population consisted of (160) coaches and referees in the Boxing Federation. As for the research sample, it was divided into a sample of adapting the moral climate scale, which consisted of (70) judges. As for the building sample for the decision-making scale, it consisted of (90) coaches. The standards (moral climate) were modified and built. for the administrative body, decision-making for the referees), the measures were applied to the research sample in order to extract the results of the research and achieve the goal of the research, which is to identify the relationship between the moral climate and decision-making for boxing referees from the point of view of the coaches and it was found that they are at an above average level in the moral climate and decision-making as well That there is a direct relationship between the two research variables (moral climate and decision-making), that is, the greater the moral climate, the greater the decision-making.
