영아교사의 부모교육역량 제고를 위한 교사교육 프로그램 개발 및 효과

The purpose of this study is to develop an educational program to enhance the parental education competency of infant teachers so that infant teachers can recognize their role as parental educators and implement parental education in the child care field. To this end, prior research analysis and a demand survey were conducted in the analysis and design stage and 288 teachers in charge of the 2-year-old infant class and 239 parents with 2-year-old children. In the implementation stage, a program (draft) was executed for 10 infant teachers, and in the evaluation stage, the final program was developed by revising and supplementing based on the data collected in the implementation stage. The educational program to enhance the parental education competency of infant teachers aims to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teachers, which are the categories of parental education competency of infant teachers, and the educational content was organized by selecting eight topics in connection with the educational goal. Teaching and learning methods are conducted through lectures, field case-oriented discussions, temperament tests, field visits, and role-play activities through cases, and are operated offline for the 8th session (16th session). The results of this study suggest that programs to enhance parental education competency of infant teachers should be actively implemented, and programs that can comprehensively enhance parental education competency are needed.

A Novel “Well Baby Clinic Service” Mobile Application: User Requirement Assessment and App Development

Abstract Background Utilization of under 5 year old child health care services in Egypt is considered low, the highest proportion of well-baby visits is mainly for immunization in the first two years of age. Parents may rely upon the internet and mobile applications (apps) for support in handling day to day parenting situations. mHealth (Mobile Health) interventions have the potential to be a useful and low-cost way to disseminate information about proper nutrition, can be used to monitor children’s growth using the official charts of World Health Organization, also can help in accessing vaccine-related information and recommended immunization schedules. Objectives To assess needs and requirements for a new comprehensive well-baby clinic mobile app. Also, to develop a mobile app prototype covering all well baby clinic service components which are: Physical growth, Developmental milestones, Immunizations, Nutrition and Safety & emergency measures. Methods This work is done over two phases. In Exploratory phase, we assessed the need for the new app by performing bibliographic review of previous mHealth interventions in child-care field, market search of the available related apps and an online survey to assess the need and expectations of the new app. In preparatory phase, we developed the novel well baby clinic app that constituted all well baby clinic services for children’s health monitoring which are: Physical growth, Developmental milestones, Immunizations, Nutrition and Safety & emergency measures relying on evidence-based information and honoring data safety. Results 13 Arabic apps were downloaded and extracted for review. All of these apps (100%∼13/13) were in the form of written articles that offered no interactive features for parents. All offered general health education not tailored according to the status of the child. None of them were developed by a university or a certified health organization. Almost all of them (92.3%∼12/13) were commercial apps as they included ads. Our online survey on 374 mothers showed that almost all of them (97.5%) reported the need of a new app to regularly follow their children’s health. They also reported the need of nutrition, developmental milestones and physical growth services in the app. We developed “Sehhat Tefly” app constituting caregiver information, child sociodemographic characteristics and the 6 previously mentioned services, it also included health education videos and a conclusive report section. Conclusion After vigorous review of literature, market search and user requirement assessment, apps reviewed didn’t provide any comprehensive approach to well-baby clinic services on a scientific basis. Upon market requirement for child m-health, we developed “Sehhat Tefly” app. The full potential of this app is yet to be defined. Further studies are needed to assess accessibility and usability of the app and to explore difficulties and barriers faced by users in different services.

THE EXPERIENCES OF YOUTHS WHO LEFT CHILD AND YOUTH CARE CENTRES OF THE EKURHULENI METRO MUNICIPALITY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Leaving a familiar environment can be daunting. Although previous studies investigated the experiences of youths who left care centres, few considered those who left during the Covid-19 pandemic. For this exploratory qualitative research study, we purposively recruited 12 African youths aged between 18 and 23, with least two years’ experience of life in the care centres of Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality to investigate their experiences when they left suchcentres during the Covid-19 pandemic. The data were collected through individual semistructured interviews, analysed according to Akinyonde and Khan’s thematic analysis method, and verified using Guba and Lincoln’s strategies. The findings revealed experiences that were clustered into three themes: preparing to leave, reflecting on life at the centre, and transiting from care during Covid-19. The recommendations proposed include the need to facilitate exitstrategies for these youths, clear follow-up plans to support them, and collaboration of practitioners in the field of child and youth care. 놀이중심교육과정 실천을 위한 ‘배움공동체’ 실행연구 -같은 지역 내 어린이집 보육교직원을 중심으로-

This study is an implementation study on the learning community for the practice of the play-oriented curriculum, and is a study on the practice of childcare staff at daycare centers in the same region. For this study, teachers and directors of three national and public daycare centers in the region who practice the play-oriented curriculum participated March 2021 to December 2022 participated. The purpose of the study is to discuss practical issues, focusing on the voices of the field, in what direction the play-oriented curriculum should be established in the childcare field while experiencing the revised Nuri course in 2019. According to the results of the study, first, by starting with the same concern, all participants in the study solved the difficulties of the play-oriented curriculum through a meeting place called a learning community. In essence, they shared empathy and comfort amidst the challenges they collectively faced. These shared experiences paved the way for identifying practical alternatives upon their return to the childcare setting. Second, by sharing each other's play cases and classroom environment as a new perspective, I gained a teacher expertise of reflective thinking by experiencing internal effects that lead to learning for unfamiliar teachers. Third, the experience of the learning community led to practice through thought for all research participants, expanding to be applied to the educational field in various ways. This study implicates valuable insights into the establishment of a play-centered curriculum in the childcare settings in alignment with the goals of the revised Nuri curriculum in 2019.

"The Impact of the Childcare Policy on Family Women's Career Development: A Empirical Analysis based on the DID Model"

This article aims to evaluate the policy effect of the childcare policy on family women's career development using microdata collected from Nanchang and Jiujiang during 2017-2021. The study finds that the career development index of family women in the pilot areas is significantly higher than that in the non-pilot areas, indicating that the childcare policy significantly promotes the career development of family women. Furthermore, this article conducts robustness tests by delaying the control variables by one period and shortening the sample range, verifying the stability of the regression results. Additional analysis shows that the childcare policy mainly affects family women's career development by accumulating women's human capital in terms of health. The findings of this article provide important policy implications for China to further improve childcare services in the field of childcare.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between childcare teachers' human rights sensitivity and rights-respecting childcare practices. To this end, data were collected and analyzed for 322 teachers who participated in education for childcare teachers in Chungbuk in 2023. First, the level of human rights sensitivity of childcare teachers was not high, and the perception of results was the highest by sub-factors. In terms of human rights-related items by episode, the right to freedom and safety of the body was the highest, and the right to education of the disabled was the lowest. Second, the overall level of childcare teachers' respect for infant rights was relatively high. By sub-area, toilet visits (basic needs) were the highest in daily work and respect, and special activities were the lowest. Among the best interests of children, respect for intention was the highest and information provision was the lowest. Third, the higher the human rights sensitivity of childcare teachers, the higher the level of child care that respects rights. By sub-area, going to the bathroom (basic desire) showed the highest correlation. Through these research results, it is necessary to prepare and practice measures to improve the human rights sensitivity of childcare teachers in order to have a high level of respect for rights and continuously implement them in the childcare field. This study is meaningful in providing implications for preparing various support measures to improve human rights sensitivity in order to implement childcare with respect for rights.

Artificial Intelligence in Childcare: Assessing the Performance and Acceptance of ChatGPT Responses.

Purpose This study aimed to evaluate the performance and acceptance of responses generated by ChatGPT-3.5 and GPT-4 to Japanese childcare-related questions to assess their potential applicability and limitations in the childcare field, specifically focusing on the accuracy, usefulness, and empathy of the generated answers. Methods We evaluated answers in Japanese generated by GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 for two types of childcare-related questions. ① For the written examination questions of Japan's childcare worker national examination for 2023's fiscal year, we calculated the correct answer rates using official answers. ② We selected one question from each of the seven categories from the child-rearing questions posted on the Japanese National Childcare Workers Association's website and had GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 generate answers. These were evaluated alongside existing childcare worker answers by human professionals. Five childcare workers then blindly selected what they considered the best answer among the three and rated them on a five-point scale for 'accuracy,' 'usefulness,' and 'empathy.' Results In the examination consisting of 160 written questions, both GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 produced responses to all 155 questions, excluding four questions omitted due to copyright concerns and one question deemed invalid due to inherent flaws in the question itself, with correct answer rates of 30.3% for GPT-3.5 and 47.7% for GPT-4 (p<0.01). For the child-rearing Q&A questions, childcare worker answers by human professionals were chosen as the best answer most frequently (45.7%), followed by GPT-3.5 (31.4%) and GPT-4 (22.9%). While GPT-3.5 received the highest average rating for accuracy (3.69 points), childcare worker answers by human professionals received the highest average ratings for usefulness and empathy (both 3.57 points). Conclusions Both GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 failed to meet the passing criteria in Japan's childcare worker national examination, and for the child-rearing questions, GPT-3.5 was rated higher in accuracy despite lower correct answer rates. Over half of the childcare workers considered the ChatGPT-generated answers to be the best ones, yet concerns about accuracy were observed, highlighting the potential risk of incorrect information in the Japanese context.

An empirical study of supporting executive function in family education with mental abacus

In the field of childcare, the focus has primarily been on executive function (EF) (working memory [WM]), which is a critical factor in daily life. The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children’s (WISC-IV) WM Index subtests of the digit span (forward and backward) and letter–number sequencing tasks are used to assess EF (WM). Theoretically, the letter–number sequencing task is more demanding on EF (WM) than the digit span task. Additionally, there is some suggestion of a relationship between EF (WM) and mental abacus (MA) and that MA can easily be performed in daily life. One challenge of supporting EF (WM) is that it is hard to conduct general evaluations and daily activities at home. This study examines the following questions through an empirical study: (1) Can Mental Abacus be used to support executive function in family education? In this study, I measured the cerebral blood flow of one child at home using the HOT-2000 for the tasks of MA and the WISC-IV. As a result, I was able to show that for that child, MA could have an effect on EF(WM). Although this is only one example, for parents, it has been important in showing that it is not impossible in the field of home education where there are many different kinds of children. The findings provide a new perspective regarding evaluating EF (WM) in cognitive psychology and neuropsychology and are valuable in breaking through previous research.

The State of Childcare: Exploring Childcare Center Directors' Perceptions on the Past, Present, and Future

The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine childcare directors’ perceptions of the state of childcare centers throughout southwest Ohio. Seventeen directors were surveyed regarding the changes they have witnessed over the past decade, and how they envision the future of childcare. The results indicated that the childcare field has experienced many challenging issues such as, teacher retention, a lack of professionalism, and an increase in children’s behavior problems. In addition, directors discussed the need for higher pay to attract (and keep) qualified teachers. With added requirements from Ohio’s quality rating improvement system, programs were feeling overwhelmed and stressed. The COVID-19 pandemic also put a significant financial strain on programs, however, some directors believed that the pandemic helped to recognize the importance of childcare. The article concludes with recommendations for the future, and strategies to address the concerns discussed by the directors.

Development of a code of ethics for childcare staff

연구목적: 본 연구에서는 아동권리뿐 아니라 보육교직원을 위한, 보육교직원에 의한 윤리강령이란 관점에서 현장 활용도가 높은 보육교직원 윤리강령을 개발하고자 하였다. 방법: 다양한 국내외 5개 윤리강령들을 분석하고, 다양한 보육분야 관련자 및 이해관계자들이 윤리강령 개발에 직접 참여하거나 이들의 의견이 수렴될 수 있도록, 전국 표집을 통한FGI, 델파이 조사, 전문가 자문회의, 이해관계자 간담회 등을 실시하였다. 결과: 영유아 영역 8문항, 가족 영역 6문항, 동료 영역 8문항, 나와 사회 영역 4문항 등총 26문항이 최종 선정되었다. 일련의 개발 과정을 간략하게 기술하였으며, 2010년 개발된윤리강령과의 주요 차이를 표로 정리하여 제시하였다. 결론: 윤리강령 공유의 활성화, 윤리강령의 업무 적용의 활성화, 보육교직원 윤리강령의지속발전가능성 확보 등을 통해 보육교직원 윤리강령이 현장에 널리 활용되도록 해야 할것이다.Objectives: The purpose of this study is to develop a code of ethics for childcare staff from the perspective of not only children's rights but also childcare staff's rights. Also it aims to actively involve childcare teachers in the development of the code of ethics. Methods: Five domestic and foreign codes of ethics were analyzed. To collect opinions from various stakeholders and professionals in the childcare field, FGI, a Delphi survey, an expert advisory meeting, and a stakeholder meeting were conducted. Results: A total of 26 questions were finally selected, including eight questions in the infant and toddler domain, six questions in the family domain, eight questions in the peer domain, and four questions in the self and social domain. Key differences from the Code of Ethics developed in 2010 were discussed. Conclusions: The code of ethics for childcare staff should be widely used in the field by promoting the sharing of the code of ethics, promoting the application of the code of ethics to work, and securing the sustainable development of the codes of ethics for childcare staff

보육교사의 직장 내 괴롭힘 경험 분석

Objectives In this study, the overall status of childcare teachers workplace harassment experiences was investigated, and the differences in the types of workplace harassment damage experiences and their effects were investigated according to individual and institutional variables.&#x0D; Methods To this end, a survey was conducted on 424 childcare teachers in Busan and Gyeongnam. The collected data were frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, one-way variance analysis, and Scheff&amp;#233; post-verification according to research problems.&#x0D; Results First, 261 (64.9%) of childcare teachers have experienced workplace harassment at daycare centers, and fellow teachers are the most perpetrators of harassment. The highest response to the bullying experience in the workplace was “not taking any action,” and the reason was “worrying that the relationship with the perpetrator would become uncomfortable.” Second, workplace harassment was the highest in workplace harassment, and the lower the teacher s age and experience, the higher the workplace harassment experience. Third, the effect of workplace harassment was found to have the highest physical and psychological atrophy, and the lower the teacher s age and career, the higher the negative effect of workplace harassment.&#x0D; Conclusions These findings suggest that it is necessary to identify the problem situation caused by workplace harassment in the childcare field and seek practical support measures to solve it.

The article presents information about the problems of child homelessness in Uzbekistan in the 20-30s of the XX century and the measures taken by representatives of the internal affairs bodies to prevent them, their achievements and shortcomings. It provides information on the reasons for thegrowing number of child homelessness in Uzbekistan and the social risks they pose.The system of internal affairs is analyzed on the basis of archival data on the work done in the field of child care during this period, as well as the mistakes and shortcomings made by them. It provides information on the decisions and regulations adopted by the CEC of the USSR (Central Executive Committee) and the CPC (Council of People's Commissars) to eliminate child homelessness, as well as the state of their impact. A social portrait of street children of this period is also presented, explaining the reasons for their desireto live on the streets.Index Terms:homelessness children, orphanage, children's reception, reformatorium, criminal child, police department, juvenile cell.

Winsome Joy: from educator to entrepreneur

Research methodology The information presented in this case was gathered through interviews and observations carried out during the time Ms Joy attended the Initiative for A Competitive Inner City business support program in 2017. In addition, focus groups that took place after the program provided important information and insights into her decision-making process and business goals. Additional interviews were conducted in 2018 and 2019 after the business program ended to gain in-depth knowledge of Ms Joy’s entrepreneurial journey. Case overview/synopsis This case details the experiences of Winsome Joy in recognizing market opportunities in the child care industry and then expanding into the educational materials industry. The case focuses on challenges related to founding and sustaining her business and the ways in which Ms Joy engaged in “opportunity recognition” and “effectuation” to become a successful entrepreneur. The case points out the challenges of the child care and early education field in terms of professional training, hiring practices and retaining qualified staff. It provides an aspirational role model who has overcome these challenges by finding and recognizing new market opportunities. Complexity academic level This case is relevant for undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship.

Objective: to conduct research on health state, body satisfaction, eating disorders (EDs), body investments, and self-esteem among adult dancers. Methods: General Health Questionnaire, WHO Well-Being Index, Body Satisfaction Scale, Human Figure Drawing Test, Body Investment Scale, Eating Attitudes Test, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. Results: 45.8% of female and 21.2% of male dancers have significant symptoms/ diseases. 7.4% of females are underweight, besides 5.9% of females and 15.6% of males are overweight. 11.6% of females are at risk for EDs. Ballroom dancers are the most dissatisfied with their body and weight, and they are the most symptomatic concerning EDs. Modern dancers are the most protected regarding body-related extremes. Female dancers under 20 have stricter body evaluation, less body protection, more bulimic symptoms, and less self-esteem. Conclusions: An intervention programme should be implemented in dance education that provides both theoretical and practical knowledge with the participation of experts in the field of health, education, and child care as well. This may help dancers to improve health, endurance, body image, and self-esteem. The prevention of EDs must be a priority in this initiative.

A COLLABORATIVE EXCHANGE TO IMPROVE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION OUTCOMES

International collaborative research has great value in helping each of the participant’s view their respective situations from novel and various perspectives. When people involved in the same work tackle problems from different perspectives, new awareness arises, and innovative solutions are created. Kagawa University and Colorado State University have conducted excellent research exchanges in the field of early childhood education based on their international exchange agreements. As the trend in Japan towards nuclear families continues in tandem with Japan’s aging society and low childbirth rate, a number of parents and guardians are becoming increasingly isolated and unsure of how to raise their children. The process of introducing a new childcare support system based on Japan’s national policies and the problems Japanese regional prefectural governments face in early childhood education were clarified through exchanges between Kagawa University and Colorado State University. By sharing information and giving an overview concerning efforts and successful cases in Japan and the U.S., mutual clues were found for problem analysis and problem solving. This research analyzed the factors for constructive interaction and provided clues for the problems highlighted by the results. It enabled several researchers in Kagawa who have experience in this field, overseas as well as locally, and those at the prefectural level involved as leaders in professional guidance in this field of childcare, to understand the current situation and trends for childcare in the U.S. This has the potential to lead to improvements in the quality of childcare and the training of teachers in Japan. It also put forward a direction and recommendations for development in international collaborative research. The term “relationship” is used to describe many forms of interaction between youngsters and adults. In this chapter it is suggested that the “personal” relationship provides the critical learning context in the field of child and youth care. The nature of this relationship is analyzed and discussed.

Embedding Anti-Oppression and Anti-Racism Perspectives in the Field of Child and Youth Care: A Case for Rearticulating Relational Care

The field of Child and Youth Care continues to expand and the foundational theories that have been central to the development of the field continue to de adapted. However, the increasing diversity of Canada's populations requires the inclusion of multiple theoretical frameworks that can address the needs of the children, youth and families that we encounter. This paper examines the ways in which anti-oppression and anti-racism perspectives can be included as an aspect of CYC thought and practice, with particular relevance to service provision for African Canadian families.

Actual Situation and Issues of Child-rearing Support in the Childcare Field from the Viewpoint of Early Childhood Caregivers and Educators

【目的】本研究の目的は，子育て支援の主な提供者である保育者の視点から，保育現場における子育て支援の現状と課題を明らかにすることである。その際，保育者としてのアイデンティティが保育者自身の子育て支援に対する捉え方にどのような影響を及ぼすかを併せて検討する。【方法】A市内の幼稚園・保育所・認定こども園に調査票を郵送し，120園から回答が得られた。1）調査期間：2016年12月～2017年2月。2）調査内容：①未就園児を対象とした支援，②預かり保育，③卒園児を対象とした支援，④園での子育て支援に対する捉え方，⑤保育者アイデンティティ。【結果と考察】保育現場における子育て支援は，未就園児と在園児を中心に行われていたが，子どもの育ちの連続性を保障し，地域の子育て支援の拠点としての役割を果たす上では，卒園児および地域の保護者等を対象とした支援もより充実していくことが課題として示された。また，子育て支援に対する肯定的な捉え方は，保育者アイデンティティの高さと関連しており，保育者である自分に向き合い，保育者としての意欲や誇りをもって仕事に臨むことが保育現場の子育て支援を促す要因になる可能性が示唆された。

DEVELOPING A PRACTICE OF AFRICAN-CENTRED SOLIDARITY IN CHILD AND YOUTH CARE

What does it mean to be an ally? More specifically, what does it mean to do the work of allyship in support of Black young people and families? As educators, researchers, and practitioners in the child and youth care field, we seek to initiate a conversation pertaining to the epistemological make-up of child and youth care practice and the movement towards persistent and intentional solidarity work as a framework for cross-racial engagement. Through a series of critical questions, this paper seeks to deconstruct the taken-for-granted practices of White Eurocentric allyship in favour of a new vision for the future of solidarity work with African-descended children, youth, and their communities.
