In the industrial era 4.0, most of the production processes use automatic machines. However, not a few companies still carry out their production processes manually, for this reason it is necessary to carry out an analysis of the value of effectiveness and efficiency between the workforce and also the machines so that production runs well 0020GHIn writing this data and information obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. This research uses descriptive method using a quantitative approach. Effective capacity of labor 1515.2. Whereas the effective capacity of the extruder machine is 378.8, the labor factor has not yet shown the maximum figure because it has not reached 100%. This can be seen from the average efficiency which only reaches 25%, while the efficiency of using extruder machines is maximized with the results of calculating an average efficiency of 100% per month, suggestions that explain the efficiency of the use of labor and machines. The results of the author's research at PT. QRS revealed that the condition of the low level of efficiency in the labor factor needs to be reviewed regarding the operation of the extruder machine which is still manual for the input of production raw materials. The efficiency of using the extruder machine at PT.QRS is already very good, it's just a matter of maintaining it. Keywords: Effectiveness and efficiency, production factors, Polyester fiber.

Regarding the employment of persons with disabilities

The article examines the performance indicators of the program objectives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regarding the realization of the right to work for persons with disabilities. Based on a comparison of employment rates for persons with disabilities in Ukraine and the European Union, a conclusion is drawn about the need to achieve the declared indicators and to adopt European practices for the inclusion of such individuals in labour relations. The article analyses the provisions of the Laws of Ukraine «On the Fundamentals of Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities» and «On Psychiatric Assistance» concerning the procedure for fulfilling employment quotas for persons with disabilities. Attention is drawn to their inconsistencies and the necessity of harmonizing their content. The article addresses problematic aspects of realizing the right to work for persons with disabilities who have been legally recognized as incapable. It presents statements from scholars and legislative provisions that define the legal labour capacity of persons with disabilities who have been declared legally incapable. It is argued that the legal basis for the inability of such individuals to exercise their constitutional right to work, due to incapacity, can be interpreted as discrimination against them from a certain perspective. It is emphasized that implementing employment support programs for persons with mental and intellectual disabilities is one way to reduce their discrimination and violations of their labour rights, counteract their stigma, and prevent social isolation. To enable persons with disabilities suffering from mental disorders, including those legally declared incapacitated, to exercise their right to work, it is proposed to introduce supported employment mechanisms. The article underscores the necessity of the principle of equal pay for equal work. It substantiates the possibility of engaging persons with disabilities who have been declared incapacitated in labour activities based on an employment integration agreement. Such a mechanism could effectively replace labour rehabilitation, which is one of the forms of individual rehabilitation. It is argued that such activities can only be carried out in the absence of medical contraindications to the person performing a certain type of work. The need to ensure these employees’ rights to remuneration, rest, and other benefits is emphasized. The article analyses the provisions of the draft law on social protection of persons with disabilities concerning the types of social enterprises. The article suggests the possibility of employing persons with disabilities who have been declared incapacitated at sheltered employment enterprises provided for by this draft law.

Combined effect of climate change and labor relation on optimally managing labor productivity under uncertainty

Heat stress amplified by climate change causes excessive reductions in labor capacity, work injuries, and socio-economic losses. Yet studies of corresponding impact assessments and adaptation developments are insufficient and incapable of effectively dealing with uncertain information. This gap is caused by the inability to resolve complex channels involving climate change, labor relations, and labor productivity. In this paper, an optimization-based productivity restoration modeling framework is developed to bridge the gap and support decision-makers in making informed adaptation plans. The framework integrates a multiple-climate-model ensemble, an empirical relationship between heat stress and labor capacity, and an inexact system costs model to investigate underlying uncertainties associated with climate and management systems. Optimal and reliable decision alternatives can be obtained by communicating uncertain information into the optimization processes and resolving multiple channels. Results show that the increased heat stress will lead to a potential reduction in labor productivity in China. By solving the objective function of the framework, total system costs to restore the reduction are estimated to be up to 248,700 million dollars under a Representative Concentration Pathway of 2.6 (RCP2.6) and 697,073 million dollars under RCP8.5 for standard employment, while less costs found for non-standard employment. However, non-standard employment tends to restore productivity reduction with the minimum system cost by implementing active measures rather than passive measures due to the low labor costs resulting from ambiguities among employment statuses. The situation could result in more heat-related work injuries because employers in non-standard employment can avoid the obligation of providing a safe working environment. Urgent actions are needed to uphold labor productivity with climate change, especially to ensure that employers from non-standard employment fulfill their statutory obligations.

Structural integrity of aging steel bridges by 3D laser scanning and convolutional neural networks

For steel bridges, corrosion has historically led to bridge failures, resulting in fatalities and injuries. To enhance public safety and prevent such incidents, authorities mandate in-situ evaluation and reporting of corroded members. The current inspection and evaluation protocol is characterized by intense labor, traffic delays, and poor capacity predictions. Here we combine full-scale experimental testing of a decommissioned girder, 3D laser scanning, and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to introduce a continuous inspection and evaluation framework. Classification and regression CNNs are trained on a databank of 1,421 naturally inspired corrosion scenarios, generated computationally based on point clouds of three corroded girders collected in lab conditions. Results indicate low errors of up to 2.0% and 3.3%, respectively. The methodology is validated on eight real corroded ends and implemented for the evaluation of an in-service bridge. This framework promises significant advancements in assessing aging bridge infrastructure with higher accuracy and efficiency compared to analytical or semi-analytical approaches.

Department of Trade and Industry Livelihood Seeding Program- Negosyo Serbisyo Barangay: Insights to Sustainable Policy Directions

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) initiated the Livelihood Seeding Program Negosyo Serbisyo Barangay (LSP-NSB) to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in disadvantaged areas of the Philippines. This study evaluated the program's progress and challenges faced by identified beneficiaries in Capiz province, aligning their experiences with the five strategic objectives of MSME Development Plan 2017-2022: improved business climate, access to finance, enhanced management and labor capacities, access to technology and innovation, and access to markets. The study offered evidence-based policy recommendations to enhance program efficiency and foster inclusive economic growth. This analyzed respondent and business profiles to recognize program implementation and challenges. It investigated if there is a significant link between implementation status and challenges faced by MSME beneficiaries. A descriptive-mixed method research design was employed, utilizing a validated and reliability-tested researcher-made survey questionnaire translated into the local dialect and conducted to 263 MSME beneficiaries, complemented by Focused Group Discussion, involving DTI implementers, beneficiaries, and barangay officials. Results showed that beneficiaries viewed the program as highly implemented overall, though facing moderate challenges, particularly in the business climate, access to finance, enhanced management and labor capacities, technology and innovation, and market access. Factors like educational attainment, number of dependents, business location, monthly income, and livelihood kit received affected the implementation. Similarly, number of dependents, industry sector, location of business, asset size, monthly income, and livelihood kit received impact challenges. A significant relationship was found between program status and challenges, notably in the business climate and market access.

Bioethical approach to determine the feasibility of using medicines involves systemic analysis of pharmacoepidemiological and pharmacoeconomic aspects of treatment, especially while treating the most common and chronic diseases. Psoriasis is the most common disease of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, accounting for 15% of cases. The rate of psoriatic complications constitutes 6–42%. Skin lesions, psoriatic arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, inflammatory intestinal diseases, mental disorders and malignant lesions produce a great effect on health, duration and quality of life, and result in early loss of labor capacity and disability of patients. So, it is important to study effectiveness and safety of systemic medicines in patients with severe and moderate-to-severe disease and perform subsequent analysis of possible use and comparison of the effectiveness of various combinations. Most affordable but ineffective medicines commonly cause real growth of further expenses on treatment, and postpone administration of more effective, though much more expensive medicines. Economic aspects of rational use of healthcare resources are becoming increasingly important whereas pharmacoeconomic values are crucial while selecting a treatment strategy.

Implementation and Evaluation of Wet Bulb Globe Temperature Within Non‐Urban Environments in the Community Land Model Version 5

AbstractGlobal heat stress is a phenomenon that impacts the livelihood of humans worldwide. Due to climate change, heatwaves are already increasing negatively impact outdoor laborers and activities. However, calculating heat stress on a global scale is disparaged due to the interplay and treatment of temperature, humidity, and radiation. To help resolve this issue, the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT), a standardized heat stress metric, is implemented into the Community Land Model (CLM5), the land surface component of the Community Earth System Model (CESM2). This resolves a long lasting, complex issue within global heat stress: the treatment of solar and thermal radiation. A default configuration of CLM5 is executed and shows the advantages of simulating the WBGT within multiple environments. Additionally, two commonly used WBGT approximations are implemented for solar exposed (sWBGT) and shaded (FiWBGT) conditions. The 1995 Chicago Heatwave is examined as a case study, focusing on the rural regions impacted by the heatwave. Derivative functions of labor capacity show that assumptions about calculating a non‐linear algorithm generate non‐negligible biases that can grossly over or underestimate the impact of heat stress on future climate change projections. For example, a difference of 0.5°C from WBGT can result in >10% change in labor capacity. Using a conservative difference of ±0.3°C, 100% of land surface extreme sWBGT values and >77% extreme shaded conditions (FiWBGT) differ from WBGT. Therefore, to accurately assess the direct exposure, risk, and damage from climate change on people, it is critical to implement diagnostics directly into Earth system models.

Production line balance problem identification and improvement based on decision tree: A case study of commercial air conditioner production line.

In the production of air conditioners, there are various issues such as complex requirements, redundant stations, excessive man-hours, and low production line balance rate. This paper aims to address these problems by analyzing the historical data of H Company's commercial air conditioner production line. The data is categorized into five aspects: station, working hours, standard working hours, labor capacity, and presence of bottleneck processes. To optimize and improve the second production line, this paper applies the production line balance management method based on data mining. It utilizes the decision tree model in data mining and incorporates lean production knowledge from industrial engineering. The goal is to identify crucial factors that affect the balance of the production line and address the issues caused by these factors. The aim is to reduce and eliminate redundant working hours and enhance the balance rate of the production line. By implementing the approach outlined in this paper, the bottleneck time of the second production line was reduced from 96.67 s to 74.6 s, and the production line balance rate increased from 68% to 85%.

Transition to synchronization-driven smart inbound logistics: an action research-oriented study

The context evolution has highlighted the need of rapidity and reactiveness for supply chains to face uncertainties, which are amplified by today’s shortage of labor and transportation capacity and increased complexity of operations. The synchronization of logistics flows, coupled with physical and digital automation technologies, is an answer to such challenges. Using an action research-oriented approach, this paper develops and documents the deployment of a reference architecture for synchronization-driven smart inbound logistics processes that could guide the synchronization of the material flows at the intersection between transportation and logistics nodes. Reflections deriving from the architecture deployment are discussed.

In the article, the authors research current issues of preserving labor capacity in the context of modern challenges and global changes in the activities of companies. Employment growth in the near future will occur due to the expansion of working age’s boundaries. The opportunity to involve representatives of the older generation in various spheres of public life and their ability to contribute to the country’s economy is a special resource of society. Moreover, society today is particularly interested in creating conditions for an active and long-term life of the population.

Post-Covid Scenario of Container Market: Impact of The Scarcity of Empty Shipping Containers Over High Prices of Commodities In the Global Supply Chain Environment

Seaborne trade, particularly containerized trade, was expected to suffer a significant decline at the outbreak of the coronavirus of the 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Due to the reason that supply chains are obliged to import various items and resources from China to meet consumer demand for commodities such as medical equipment, home office supplies, and computer equipment. As China recovered from months of trade suspension, an imbalance was developed, with the country sending around three containers for every one imported. Furthermore, the container crisis reflects a slowdown and delays in the maritime supply chain because of pandemic-related strains, such as port labor shortages, port congestion (also due to blank sailings), and capacity constraints in the truck and other inland transportation systems. Due to a lack of empty containers, backlog at ports resulted in freight prices surpassing record highs by the end of 2020 and early in 2021. The surge in freight prices was felt in various developing countries, including Africa and Latin America. As a result, shipping and container rates skyrocketed, resulting in prolonged delays for businesses, the total cost of ownership (TOC), and thus the price of commodities. Therefore, this paper emphasizes over repercussions of constraints on the whole maritime supply chain and propose measures for dealing with potential future container shortage.

Frost soil interaction with the cement-sand mortar of a driven precast pile

Introduction. The drilling method of pile driving represents the most common method of constructing foundations on permafrost soils. In order to reduce the tangential forces of frost heaving, the space between the pile surface and a leader well wall within the layer of seasonal freezing-thawing is filled with non-heaving sandy soil. This technology complicates the process of installing driven precast piles. In this case, a significant simplification involves filling the space between the pile and the soil with a cement-sand mortar (CSM) along the entire height of the pile. However, at present, no method is valid for calculating driven precast piles for the action of frost heaving tangential forces during CSM freezing.Aim. To develop a methodology for calculating driven precast piles for the action of frost heaving tangential forces during CSM freezing.Materials and methods. A set of laboratory tests, modeling the processes in soils during cold and warm pile installation periods, was carried out. Laboratory tests were performed using a method of a single-plane cut along the surface of a CSM freezing with clay soils, as well as with the foundation material at a constant rate in accordance with State Standard R 56726-2015 and statistical data processing according to State Standard 20522-2012.Results. The article presents the results of laboratory studies on effects, caused by frost heaving tangential forces on piles during soil and CSM freezing, taking into account various factors (clay soil liquidity index, test temperature). Based on the obtained data, the authors propose a methodology for calculating the stability of driven precast piles. The method consists in determining the heaving force per unit area by adding the products of the seasonal freezing-thawing fractional depth, obtained by thermal engineering calculations or according to the plots, given in the article, by the tangential forces of frost heaving, obtained in laboratory studies.Conclusions. The developed methodology improves the reliability and accuracy of foundation calculations, enhances the efficiency of base and foundation design solutions, and reduces the labor capacity of driven precast pile installation.

Human-robot Collaboration in Warehousing: a Cloud-powered Revolution

This case study aims to understand the challenges faced by bigger warehouses in verticals such as logistics and warehousing, in the supply chain. It deconstructs the Warehouse Automation Management (WMS) technology and how it has evolved since its inception. It delves deeper into the problem statement that is majorly focused on the impact of COVID-19 on warehouse operations. Challenges such as labor shortage, capacity restrictions, health and safety protocols, and large inventory management became more prominent and affected the business operations. Additionally, this case study analyzes the solution i.e. Warehouse Management System in a holistic approach. It is a user-centric and human-driven solution, rather than being solely robot-oriented. Furthermore, It talks about the collaboration of the latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT (Internet of Things), Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Blockchain, etc. The culmination of all these technologies and keeping the user-centric approach in mind was an innovation of a new technology called Cobots i.e. Collaborative Robots. These robots are automated by nature and are close to humans for their operations, not for the physical aspect of a task but for the strategic aspect of it. In addition, extensive Primary Research was conducted for this case study through various research methods such as in-depth interviews and surveys of the core stakeholders of the industry.

Causes of Lamb Mortality in the Lacaune Sheep Breed in Iran

Background: Neonatal mortality is a significant multifactorial problem that affects flock productivity. Different infectious and non-infectious factors have been attributed to lamb losses. The objective of the present study was to identify the major causes of neonatal mortality. Methods: In a 3-months period, 114 Lacaune breed lambs died of which 52 animals were lost with clinical signs of infection. Heart and lung samples were collected and transmitted to the laboratory. Microbiological cultures following biochemical tests were conducted to identify bacterial infection of the lambs. Results: A total of 52 out of 114 lambs (45.6%) were infected with bacteria. The bacteria including Escherichia coli (30.8%), Proteus mirabilis (19.2%), Pasteurella multocida (1.5%), Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis (7.7%), Mannheimia haemolytica (3.9%), Staphylococcus epidermidis (1.9%) were isolated. The role of the identified pathogens was more significant in lamb death compared to noninfection causes. Diarrhea was the most euoitcefni disease followed by septicemia and pneumonia. Escherichia coli was isolated significantly more than other bacterial agents (30.8%). Conclusion: The present findings showed Escherichia coli as the most common pathogen leading to lamb losses in the first two weeks of life. ciieigyeiuet practice which encompasses both environment and milking equipment, periodical flaming, and providing dry and clean bedding can dramatically decrease the infection among uiobfeu animals. Reduction of the birth density and avoiding synchronization until the expert and labor capacity has reached the optimal level are necessary actions to reduce infectious diseases.

Finding the right one: Decision support for selecting cost-efficient order picking solutions

Enabled via recent technological advances coupled with the advent of new systems providers and decreased price points, automated and robotized order-picking solutions (e.g., pick-assisting autonomous mobile robots) have evolved as a surging market. Such innovative picking technologies aim to reduce labor costs, use available space more efficiently, and increase throughput rates. As implementation projects and the variety of solutions rise, managers decide which ones to select for their specific warehouse and products. However, comprehensive decision models for this strategic problem are lacking in the pertinent literature. We propose a mathematical optimization model for the novel problem that selects and sizes order-picking solutions and assigns them products and warehouse spaces. Expert interviews are used to identify the comprehensive decision-relevant costs and constraints. Specifically, we minimize setup, module, labor, and error costs while adhering to characteristics related to the area (e.g., available space), technology (e.g., throughput, handling capabilities of certain products), and product (e.g., physical dimensions). We conduct a case study and complement our findings with numerical experiments. We find significant cost reduction potential of up to 57% by selecting a mix of different order-picking solutions. Further analyses highlight the need to retain human workers and to account for maximum labor capacity.

Inter‐sectoral economic linkages in the Australian mining industry: Analysis using partial hypothetical extraction method

AbstractThe mining industry is not only one of Australia's main economic sectors but also one that the country is considered to have managed well. However, little is known about the industry's potential to contribute to the structural change of Australia's economy. We use the national input–output (IO) tables and apply the partial hypothetical extraction method (P‐HEM) within both the Leontief and Gosh IO frameworks to examine the inter‐sectoral linkages of the Australian mining and quarrying sector. Ee find that this sector demonstrates strong backward linkages (BL), but forward linkages (FL) appear to be weak, and they mainly involve non‐metallic materials. The mining and quarrying sector appears to generate linkages with the business services sector and the construction sector, which can potentially contribute to diversifying the economy. Such linkages may be realised via skilling and reallocating skilled labour and technical supplier capacity as well as via developing physical infrastructure that supports existing and new economic sectors. We find that the identified linkage pathways via the construction sector are tied to energy‐intensive but coal‐dependent sectors. Thus, these pathways are vulnerable because of the climate‐related need to move away from combusting coal and invest in cleaner sources of energy.

Oligarchy, underutilized capacity, and government policy

We examine an oligarchic economy where only elites can establish firms. In monopolistic competition when the size of the elite is sufficiently small, there is an absolute exclusive equilibrium where wages are driven to the reservation wage. Because of the possession of market power by firms, total equilibrium output is insufficient to warrant the employment of the entire labor force, leading to inadequate aggregate demand for labor and underutilized capacity. The economy inefficiently operates inside its production possibilities frontier. Then, the adoption of rather unorthodox left-wing fiscal and labor policies may boost capacity utilization and lead to a Pareto improvement.

Dampak Lingkungan Stunting Dan Perekonomian

Stunting is complex and involves various factors such as access to nutritious food, feeding practices, sanitation, maternal and child health care, family economics, and the physical environment. To overcome stunting and its impacts, a cross-sectoral approach is needed which includes improving access to nutritious food, improving sanitation, health education, access. The community service program is carried out with a community approach, so that it is right on target. The method used in this community service is community service with a community service method, combining the essence and practical analysis of many things, scientifically accurate and authentic sources. This can reduce a country's labor capacity and hinder long-term economic growth. Limited education can limit their access to better, higher-paying jobs in the future

A daily high-resolution (1 km) human thermal index collection over the North China Plain from 2003 to 2020

Human-perceived temperature (HPT) describes the joint effects of multiple climatic factors such as temperature and humidity. Extreme HPT events may reduce labor capacity and cause thermal discomfort and even mortality. These events are becoming more frequent and more intense under global warming, posing severe threats to human and natural systems worldwide, particularly in populated areas with intensive human activities, e.g., the North China Plain (NCP). Therefore, a fine-scale HPT dataset in both spatial and temporal dimensions is urgently needed. Here we construct a daily high-resolution (~1 km) human thermal index collection over NCP from 2003 to 2020 (HiTIC-NCP). This dataset contains 12 HPT indices and has high accuracy with averaged determination coefficient, mean absolute error, and root mean squared error of 0.987, 0.970 °C, and 1.292 °C, respectively. Moreover, it exhibits high spatiotemporal consistency with ground-level observations. The dataset provides a reference for human thermal environment and could facilitate studies such as natural hazards, regional climate change, and urban planning.

Comparison of Insurance Between China and the United States

China has made enormous strides in economic development since the reform and opening up., while medicine and health care are relatively backward. Medical insurance is a very important social insurance project and an important institutional arrangement in the modern social security system. In addition to the common functions of social insurance, it also protects the physical and mental health of workers timely. It has special functions such as repairing labor capacity, reducing the economic burden of workers and their families, improving the physical fitness of the whole people, and promoting the healthy development of health services. Research question: which is better, Chinese insurance or American insurance. This paper analyzes the advantages of American insurance and the disadvantages of Chinese insurance through comparative research. This paper compares the coverage and protection, objects of insurance in China and the United States. By summing up the advantages of American insurance, it hopes that it can play a reference role in improving China's insurance. After analysis, this paper can draw the conclusion that the state needs to strengthen the people's awareness of maintenance, control the growth of medical expenses, and implement nationwide medical insurance.
