Implementation of community-based education management: A case study of Islamic boarding schools in Bengkulu City, Indonesia

The purpose of this study is to reveal the objective conditions and characteristics of Islamic boarding school management as a model of community-based education in Bengkulu City. This study uses a qualitative approach, the method used is a single instrumental case study. The data collection process used (1) in-depth interviews, (2) participatory observation, and (3) documentation study. The data analysis technique is domain analysis by focusing on terms, semantic relationships, and the phrases they cover. The results and research findings show that Islamic boarding school management as a model of community-based education in Bengkulu City needs to be addressed regarding management according to good and correct management principles, which have been using full authority and top leader charisma. Given that Islamic boarding school is a type of community-based education, the application of management must pay attention to the aspects of management that apply to community-based education.

Description of Santri Preparedness for Fire Disaster Management in Pondok Karya Pembangunan Islamic Boarding School Manado City 2020

Preparedness is a part of the disaster management process which aims to prevent and minimize disaster risk which is pro-active before a disaster occurs. Fire disasters can occur anywhere, including in the Islamic boarding schools, this is because in the pesantren there is not only a teaching and learning process, but also most of the students' lives are carried out in the pesantren. The aims of this study was to describe the fire disaster preparedness of the students at Islamic Boarding School Pondok Karya at Manado City. Type of this research using analytic survey with a cross sectional approach, with a total sample of 89 people was taken using accidental techniques. The results of this study showed that as many as 60 students (67.4%) have a level of preparedness that is ready to cope with fire disasters with a good level of knowledge (47.2%) on fire management procedures although only 33 students (37.1%) knew how to use fire extinguisher. Statistical test result using chi square test that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge (0.002) and attitude (0.000) with the level of preparedness in fire disaster preparedness at Islamic Boarding Scholl Pondok Karya at Manado City. Recommended for Islamic Boarding School Management are required to provide education on fire disaster management preparedness to students at least once a year, so that if a fire disaster occurs, the risk can be minimized.

The Adiwiyata Islamic Boarding School Management (A Study of Participatory Leadership Style)

In Aceh Province, Dayah Perbatasan Darul Amin is an Islamic Boarding school institution that has twice had achievement as the cleanest and healthiest boarding school as part of adiwiyata-based education institution concept. Such achievement by the Islamic boarding school can inspire and terminate a syndrome that a boarding house is a slump, dirty and unhealthy place. Also, it can change the public paradigm that boarding school is a very representative place to study. This research analyzes the Islamic boarding school management model in implementing the adiwiyata concept through participative leadership. The research approach paradigm is the qualitative one. The research used a diary method (DM). This article is an experience of Darul Amin Islamic Boarding School in implementing the adiwiyata program by implementing an effective Islamic boarding school. Results of the research show that adiwiyata program management is conducted through participative leadership, namely (1) formulation of adiwiyata Islamic boarding school, (2) building intern consolidation, (3) implementation of cleanliness management, (4) procurement of necessary infrastructure, (5) program evaluation and (6) organizational development. All elements' active contribution in realizing the adiwiyata Islamic boarding school can improve students' characteristics to live clean and love their environment. The participative leadership of the Kyai is proven to be able to improve the effectiveness of adiwiyata Islamic boarding school management.

BOARDING SCHOOL MANAGEMENT OF MADRASAH LIYAH NEGERI 2 SERANG

The main problem in this research is how Boarding School Management of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Serang. This study aims to find and describe the content of policies, planning, management, problems, supporting factors, results achieved, and how to resolve the problems in the Implementation of Boarding School<strong> </strong>in MAN 2 Serang. This study used qualitative descriptive method approach, which is related to data collection, which aims to describe the condition and situation in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Serang. Data collection techniques used are interview, observation, documentation, and triangulation. Boarding School is an integrated educational institution between general education and 'pesantren' education as supporting of teaching learning activity in Madrasah. The aim of implementing more advance and comprehensive education, holistic, the world of science can be achieved and religious knowledge can be mastered. Boarding School management system in MAN 2 Serang is a 'semi-pesantren' system, where all students are required to live in Boarding.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MANAGEMENT IN JAM’IYYAH ISLAMIYYAH ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL, SOUTH TANGERANG: A BALANCED SCORECARD APPROACH

This paper aims to determine the effectiveness of the management in Islamic boarding schools using balanced scorecard performance analysis, including four perspectives: finance, customers, internal business processes and learning and growth in Jam'iyyah Islamiyyah Islamic Boarding School. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive model. Based on the research that has been done, it is known that the management of Jam'iyyah Islamiyyah Islamic Boarding School measured with balanced scorecard approach is categorized as good, as the measurement results in all four perspectives are close to the expected target. After being measured using balanced scorecard approach and then analyzed with the effectiveness indicators according to Danim, the results show that the management of the Jam'iyyah Islamiyyah Islamic Boarding School can be said to be effective.

Design and Development of Management Information System in Ma'had Huffadz Bilingual Darul Hikmah Malang Using Scrum Method

The scrum method is the most important thing in building software. The following research builds a management information system on Ma'had Huffadz Bilingual Darul Hikmah under Darus-Sa'adah Al Mardliyah Foundation. The institution, which is one of the Boarding Schools Tahfidzul Qur'an located in the city of Malang, East Java. The following research uses the Scrum framework. The implementation of the scrum method in the following research uses three sprints. The process of working on each sprint takes no more than a month. The software development in this research is web-based. Work on application programs using the Laravel framework using the PHP programming language. The results showed that the scrum method is very effective in building a boarding school management information system. Scrum is more dynamic, and the results of this scrum implementation can be seen from the system that has been developed. So that by implementing Scrum can produce a system that suits the requirements of the user.

KONTRIBUSI SIS (SISTEM INFORMASI SANTRI) DALAM INOVASI MANAJEMEN KEUANGAN PONDOK PESANTREN

The objectives set from this study are: (1) To find out the planning of SIS in the financial management of Blokagung Tegalsari Banyuwangi Islamic Boarding School, (2) To find out the supporting and inhibiting factors of the application of SIS in the financial management of Blokagung Tegalsari Banyuwangi Islamic Boarding School. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The research was the researcher himself who became an instrument (human instrument) with supporters of the interview guide grid. Data collection is more emphasized on observation, interview, and documentation. The validity of the data in this study uses data triangulation.The results of his research: SIS (SantriInformation System) as an innovation in the financial management of the Darussalam Boarding School Blokagung Tegalsari Banyuwangi is implemented with several stages which include: (1) Determination of payment system innovation, (2) Determination of santri payment budget.(3) Appointment of the system responsible team. (4) Appointment of a payment system service team.supporting and inhibiting factors of the application of SIS to the financial management of the Darussalam Boarding School, Blokagung Tegalsari Banyuwangi, they are: Supporting factors (1) Productivity of the person in charge, (2) Socialization strategies for implementing SIS. Inhibiting factors: (1) Lack of supporting facilities, (2) Timeliness of payment reporting.

Hubungan Tingkat Pengetahuan dan Sikap Santri Terhadap Kesiapsiagaan dalam Penganggulangan Bencana Kebakaran di Pondok Pesantren X di Kota Surabaya

This research was conducted in July-August 2020 which aims to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of students towards fire disaster preparedness at Islamic Boarding School Pondok Karya at Manado City. Type of this research using analytic survey with a cross sectional approach, with a total sample of 89 people was taken using accidental techniques. The results of this study showed that as many as 60 students (67.4%) have a level of preparedness that is ready to cope with fire disasters with a good level of knowledge (47.2%) on fire management procedures although only 33 students (37.1%) knew how to use fire extinguisher. Fourth, social education through joint activities both in dormitories at schools and in the community. Providing soft skills that help develop children's intellectuals with activities that include tahfidz (memorizing the Koran), language areas (mandatory English and Arabic language environments), speech, and others. Likewise, hard skills provisioning in the form of extracurricular activities for Tapak Suci and Hizbul Wathan. With the implementation of boarding school management, it's hoped that the school can achieve Islamic education purpose.

MANAGEMENT OF SALAFIYAH ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL TOWARDS QUALITY ENHANCEMENT OF FORMAL EDUCATION INSTITUTION IN THE DIGITAL ERA

This research is set to clarify the importance of technology in the Salafiyah Islamic boarding school in Tulungagung. It is focused on the management of the Salafiyah Islamic boarding school based on the functions of management, namely planning, implementing, and evaluating in facing educational competition in the digital age. The research method is descriptive qualitative using purposive and snowball sampling. The researchers select 3 internal stakeholders and 9 external stakeholders. The results reveal that: 1) planning function of management is categorized into good criteria by preparing facilities and infrastructure as well as professional teaching staff; 2) implementation function of management can integrate the boarding school curriculum with the modern education curriculum; 3) evaluation function of management is conducted by practicing various sciences in the world and the hereafter, mastering science and technology as well as faith and piety. Regarding these results, the Salafiyah Islamic boarding school requires formal education as a foundation of life to compete in this disruption era.

PENGELOLAAN KEUANGAN PESANTREN

The purpose of this research is to find out the description of pesantren financial management. By the title of the research, the research uses the literature method. The results of the study explained that financial management is an act of financial administration/administration which includes recording, planning, implementation, accountability, and reporting. Thus, school financial management can be interpreted as a series of activities regulating school finance from planning, accounting, spending, supervision, and accountability of school finances. Financial management of boarding schools is one of the substances of the management of educational institutions that will also determine the smooth operation of boarding schools. As is the case with the substance of education management in general, financial management activities in Islamic boarding schools should be carried out through the processes of planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, supervising, or controlling. Some financial management activities take the form of obtaining and determining sources of funding, use of funds, reporting, auditing, and accountability. Through financial management activities, the funding needs of Islamic boarding school activities can be planned, procured, transparently recorded, and used to finance the implementation of Islamic boarding school programs effectively and efficiently. For that purpose, the financial management of Islamic boarding schools includes: (1) Improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the use of financial boarding schools; (2) Increasing financial accountability and transparency in Islamic boarding schools; and (3) Minimizing misuse of the boarding school budget.

Pentingnya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berbahasa Inggris Para Mudabbirah di Pondok Pesantren

Mudabbirah, an Arabic word which means ‘coach’ is part of an Islamic boarding school management. Different from any other personnel of school management, Mudabbirah are selected among students of the 11th grade. This element of management is usually based in each room where students live and is responsible for controlling the day-to-day activities of other students staying in the room. In addition to tasks such as ensuring discipline, mudabbirah is also given a responsibility to coach their juniors in learning foreign languages (in this particular school Arabic and English). Due to the important role this school element plays, this training was held in order to improve mudabbirah language mastery as well as their teaching methodology. The findings show that mudabbirah showed enthusiasm which is reflected by their attendance and activeness during the training. By doing so it is hoped that they can perform their duty better as a result of better developed language knowledge and skills in English and at the same time are skillful coach for their peers

KIAI INTERPERSONAL MANAGERIAL: HENRY MINTZBERG PERSPECTIVE

The applicative theory used as a supporting statement is the concept of Henry Mintzberg's interpersonal managerial role. It is undeniable to see the gap between management theory and the concept of social interaction in Islam. The term defined by some experts is bounded value, individual, and nonexclusive. The theory emphasizes more on the system through management functions, whereas in Islam, the leadership figures are more desirable. This study answers, how is the application of interpersonal managerial roles in the Al-Ishlah Islamic Boarding School from Henry Mintzberg's perspective? The method used in this study is qualitative research with observation and interview instruments as tools of data collection. From the results of data collection, researchers conducted descriptive analysis steps namely categorization, reduction, and interpretation. The results show that Kiai's interpersonal managerial role forms as: first, Kiai al-Ishlah figure, and the ceremonial stage of the leadership. Second, the pattern of the al-Ishlah Islamic boarding school organization, personal improvement, independence, productivity, and special training. Third, educational cooperation and equality cooperation. The implication is that it is understandable that management theory is not the main theory used in an Islamic boarding school because the managerial role of Kiai managerial firmly determines the pace of Islamic boarding school management

Pembimbingan Usaha Beternak Unggas dan Pengolahan Limbah Peternakan Unggas Pada Masyarakat di Desa Wakan Kecamatan Jerowaru Lombok Timur

This dedication activity was based on requests from the management of the Ar-Rusydiny Segaet Islamic boarding school and the people of Wakan village, Jerowaru sub-district, East Lombok regency to get guidance on poultry raising and processing of poultry manure waste, which is one of the activities in the boarding school. The activity involved the community and students of Islamic boarding schools in the village of Wakan. Activities include counseling on poultry farming and poultry farm waste processing in the form of hongkong caterpillar cultivation using poultry droppings. The method used is a participatory method, counseling, and waste treatment practices with various alternative treatment processes. The target to be achieved from this activity is the community and boarding school students motivated to conduct poultry farming and poultry farm waste processing business, and make it one of the leading programs in boarding schools. Based on the results of the community service activities, various problems were found, namely the ignorance of the community in processing poultry, cow, and goat manure waste which is often complained of by the community. The Wakan village community and the management of the Ar-Rusydiny Segaet boarding school do not know how to handle livestock waste. Wakan villagers enthusiastically participated in counseling and practices of sewage treatment, as evidenced by the number of participants who took part, 37 people and during the active discussion session, as well as the emergence of community commitment to process waste into useful products.

PEDATREN: MANAJEMEN PESANTREN BERBASIS PAPERLESS OFFICE

This article aims to understand pedatren holistically as a technology-based paperlessoffice boarding school management solution. This article uses qualitative research with the types of case studies conducted at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, Paiton, Probolinggo. Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School is one of the pesantren in East Java which has been established for 69 years. This is an indicator that the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School is able to survive, be responsive and dynamic towards changing times, without abandoning religious values as a whole. Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School is also one of the cottages that responds well to the presence of technology. Pedatren is the solution to the pesantren management system which is starting to transform towards a paperless institution. Pedatren is designed using the node.js programming language with the jami 'wal mani' design system.

The Perception of School Heads and Teachers on Challenges of Effective Management of Public-Boarding Schools in Ondo State, Nigeria

The study investigated the perception of school heads and teachers on challenges of effective management of public-boarding schools in Ondo State, Nigeria. It involved the use of the 23 public-boarding schools in the State. All the 23 schools were used while 6 government appointed and full-time teachers (3 males and 3 females) were selected from each school, which totaled 138 teachers. The teachers were selected through stratified and simple random sampling techniques. 2 research questions were raised and 2 hypotheses formulated while descriptive-survey design was adopted. Data were gathered using a self-developed 13-item questionnaire, validated and tested for reliability (r= 0.90) and analysed using frequency count, tables, percentage, mean, as well as Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) while the hypotheses were tested using chi-square statistic. The study found inadequate food, high cost of food items, indiscipline of pupils/students, theft of boarding materials, invasion of school by hoodlums, lack of/inadequate provision of security guards, erratic power supply, among others, as the challenges facing effective management of public-boarding schools in the state. Also, no significant difference was found in the perception of male and female school heads, school heads and teachers, on the challenges of effective management of boarding schools. Based on the challenges found, it can be concluded that all is not well with public-boarding schools in the State. The need for administrators of boarding schools to make the environment very conducive for pupils/students and for government to formulate policies which will address the challenges of effective management of boarding schools, among others, are recommended.

Revitalization of Islamic Boarding School Management to Foster the Spirit of Islamic Moderation in Indonesia

Islamic moderation-based boarding school management is vital to be carried out amidst the negative stigma of radicalism. This study aims to analyze the management revitalization of Islamic boarding schools conducted by Islamic boarding schools in Bengkulu, Indonesia, i.e., Miftahul Jannah, Hidayatullah, Ar-Rahmah, Muhammadiyah, and Al-Hijaaz Islamic boarding schools, in order to foster a spirit of Islamic moderation in Indonesia. This study used a qualitative method. The researchers were actively involved in managerial activities in Islamic boarding schools as a part of uncovering phenomena that occur in Islamic boarding schools. The results showed that the revitalization of boarding school management in order to have a significant role in preventing radicalism was done by creating commitment and not giving the slightest opportunity to the emergence of radicalism, returning the position of the existence of boarding schools as tafaqquh fiddin and boarding school managers committed to not engage in practical politics, to monitor strictly all boarding school programs to be free from radicalism. The spirit of Islamic moderation is used as a foothold in the practice of religious life so that Islamic boarding schools become a driving force in fostering the spirit of Islamic moderation.

Santri's perception of cigarettes on smoking behavior in Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, East Java

Indonesia Basic Health Research Data in 2018 shows that smokers in the 10-18 years age group increased to 9.1%. The phenomenon of smoking in adolescents in Indonesia has touched on educational institutions such as pesantren, where students are found to have smoked from an early age. This study aims to review the influence of students' perceptions of cigarettes based on smoking habits, cigarette advertisements and the image of cigarette companies to the smoking behaviour in students at Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design using 40 students as research samples. We use modified structured questionnaire from the Smoke-Free Agents. Research shows 62.5% of students are active smokers. Based on the bivariate test, we found a relationship between perceptions of smoking habits and perceptions of cigarette advertising (p-value <0.05) to the smoking behaviour. In addition, we found that there is no relationship to the perception of the image of the cigarette company (p-value> 0.05). This study found a high percentage of students who smoked in the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School. Students' perceptions of smoking habits and students' perceptions of cigarette advertisements are related to students' smoking behaviour. The denormalization of cigarette products needs to be carried out by Islamic Boarding School Management to control smokers among students and prevent adolescent’s smoker.

Strategic Management to Cultivate Islamic Boarding Schools’ Educational Quality: Blending Model Implementation

This study aims to explore strategic management of Islamic Boarding Scholl in order to cultivate educational quality. The present study employed a qualitative study by using descriptive analytical approach. Two Islamic boarding schools were selected as the research sites namely Sabilunnajat and Al-Ulfah Islamic boarding schools, Ciamis Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The findings revealed that these two Islamic boarding schools were deemed capable to survive in a fairly tight competition. Moreover, there were several strategic steps undertaken by these two Islamic boarding schools to survive and contribute to the society. This alteration attempt is a conceptualization of Islamic boarding school management system referred to, in other words, as management strategy. After obtaining the results of field data from two research sites, the researcher will subsequently analyze and attempt to improve the management system in the two research sites. A good boarding school and the survived one is considered capable to answer the needs of the society which is in line with the terms where quality is something that meets needs.
