Sam Son Marine Tourism Adaptation to Climate Change

Vietnam has over 3260 kilometers of coastline stretching from the north to the south, bringing the strength of marine tourism and resort tourism. However, many researches have affirmed that the sea level is rising in the century with the main cause of climate change. Vietnam is considered one of the most vulnerable and being negatively impacted by sea level rise. In which Tourism in Vietnam is one of the most vulnerable sectors due to climate change because most of Vietnam's tourism activities depend on available natural resources. Original research current status of climate change impacts on the value of marine tourism resources, infrastructure, tourism technical facilities, tourism products, seasonality, adaptive capacity at a specific beach tourist destination is Sam Son contributing to further clarifying the impact of climate change on marine tourism.

Effectiveness of Pangandaran Beach Tourism Destination Publications, West Java, Indonesia

Pangandaran Beach is one of the fastest growing beach tourist destinations in Indonesia, where the number of foreign tourists visiting is as much as 9.44 million and domestic tourists as many as 251.20 million trips per year. The purpose of this study is to see the effectiveness of publications about Pangandaran Beach carried out in various media. The method used is EPIC model that takes into account the dimensions of Empathy, Persuasion, Impact, and Communication. The sample in this study were tourists who had visited Pangandaran Beach and saw the publication media. The results of this study indicate that the score for the empathy dimension is 3.41; persuasion dimensions of 3.64; impact dimension of 3.59; communication dimension of 3.46. When viewed from the EPIC rate which calculates all dimensions, a score of 3.53 is obtained. These results show three dimensions of empathy, persuasion and effective communication, while impact dimensions are quite effective. The EPIC rate of 3.53 indicates that the Pangandaran beach publication is effective.

Community Involvement in the Beach Tourism Industry in the Province of Batangas, Philippines

This study looked into the extent of community involvement in the beach tourism industry in the Province of Batangas, Philippines in the specific areas of peace and security, marketing and promotion and environmental protection. The descriptive method of research was utilized using a self-constructed questionnaire in order to gather the data needed for the study. The research settled on restricting the paper sample size to 400 respondents as based from a matrix which showed the actual number of the participants, resort owners, resort managers, domestic tourists and foreign visitors as well as the residents of the municipalities under focus. Except for the Provincial Tourism officials and staff, all other respondents were identified from the four selected municipalities of the Province of Batangas. The results of the study revealed that Batangas, Philippines is a beach tourism haven which gives high regard to a quiet and peaceful community, is beaming with pride of the existence of such beach tourist destinations in their respective localities and advocates the protection and preservation of the environment.

The development of Tourist Destination is newly become the alternative which is important progressively and insit on to the new atmosphere and warm image and also avoid impression monotonous. To realize the mentioned, hence the research of the system of management of tourist destinations is very urgently done by owning special target of research, that is: (1) System of analysis of environmental utility facility of Coastal Tourist Destination Pandawa Beach, (2) System analysis and pranata of management of Coastal tourist Destination management of Pandawa Beach, (3) analyzing storey at Pandawa Beach, (4) Analyzing tourist expectation to Coastal tourist destination Pandawa Beach.
 This research is designed to develop. Population in this research is management of Pandawa Beach, a domestic tourist and tourist of foreign countries paying a visit to the Coastal touris destination of Pandawa Beach which its amount is boundless. Sample in Pandawa Beach tourist destination management, domestic tourist and foreign countries paying a visit to tourist destination Pandawa Beach of May until June 2018. Data colected in this research cover the qualitative and quantitative data. Data collecting is done with the questionnaire alloted to Coastal tourist destination organizar of Pandawa Beach and tourist which is paying a visit to pay visit to the Coastal tourist destination of Pandawa Beach. Analyze the data using the descriptive analysis.

Fueling ecological neglect in a manufactured tourist city: planning, disaster mapping, and environmental art in Cancun, Mexico

This article explores how tourism urban governance fuels patterns of ecological neglect. It turns a critical eye on Cancun, a leading Caribbean beach tourist destination and battered epicenter of anthropogenic climate change. First, the article contextualizes Cancun’s design and construction as a state development project and manufactured tourist city. It describes the city’s socio-spatial segregation and highlights the role of hurricanes in processes of beach enclosure. Second, it explores a series of risk maps elaborated as responses to international demands on coastal disaster mitigation and beach erosion. I show how local authorities, academics, and the Mexican state are bound to disregard risk maps to further enclose the Caribbean beach and keep the city productive for tourism. Finally, I look at the adoption of anthropogenic narratives on climate change as tourist attractions in Cancun’s Underwater Museum of Art, a unique coalition between conservation, art and tour-operators in the city. I show that turning sea level rise and ocean acidification into tourist spectacles through copyrighted art, this attraction depoliticizes tourism’s responsibility in patterns of environmental degradation. The article serves to reflect on the tacit paradoxes that plague efforts to imagine alternative environmental politics and sustainable tourism urbanisms outside neoliberal trends.

El impacto ambiental del turismo internacional: caso de la huella de carbono de los vuelos internacionales hacia Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México.

En este documento se analiza que, si bien el sector turístico ha sido de gran importancia para la economía mexicana en el ámbito macroeconómico, en los últimos años el impacto socio ambiental de esta actividad económica es elevado. Se sabe que el modelo transnacional del turismo está desvinculado de las cadenas locales de valor. El turismo de alto ingreso raramente se encuentre inserto en las estructuras económicas locales. En México, por ejemplo, gran parte de los ingresos provenientes del turismo internacional se exportan por la vía de los ingresos de las cadenas hoteleras y la organización de los circuitos turísticos o los costos de aerotransporte. Por otro lado, gran porcentaje de la ventaja competitiva del sector es producto de la externalización de los costos sociales y ambientales. Lo anterior se debe a que, por una parte, los salarios de los trabajadores de los servicios turísticos no pueden competir con los de los países industrializados y a que, frecuentemente, las instalaciones turísticas extranjeras, especialmente las hoteleras, se les ha permitido localizarse en zonas extremadamente sensibles para el equilibrio ecológico local. Los “ahorros” derivados de estas prácticas permiten al turismo “mexicano” competir a escala mundial en el sector. El artículo que se presenta, se explora un aspecto particular del subsidio ambiental de la actividad turística: la huella de carbono producida por los vuelos internacionales en el caso de uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes de nuestro país, Puerto Vallarta.

Sanur is one of the most attractive and renowned beach tourist destinations in Bali. However, there is no particular study so far to determine the influential attributes on Sanur, as well as the factors which affecting tourist’ opinion to visit this area. The purposes of this research are to determine the dominant attributes to determine visitors’ perception toward tourism attributes, to determine tourist loyalty on visiting Sanur area. This research was conducted by interviewing 100 domestic and foreign visitors who reside in the area at the time of research by accidental sampling method. Information regarding the trend of the visitors was gathered from ten respondents including business owners and local touristauthority by purposive sampling method. The research found that factors which dominantly influent tourist’ perception are ambience,beauty of scenery and accessibility. The ambience as the highest mean score, while the value of sport and outdoor activities is the lowest. The interest of both domestic and international tourist has been constantly high, where recommendation commitment is more preferable compared to other dimension (repurchasing and branding commitment).

Goa: Tourism and Socio-Cultural Implications A Study Of Selected Tourist Destination of South Goa District, Goa-India

Tourism, as a social event, brings a transformation in the society, due to long guest, host association but many times, tourist destinations remain as image unique cultural identity. Goa, a beach tourist destination in India, is one of the most preferred tourist destination that has witnessed the pros and cons of tourism. Therefore, this paper aims to assess the perceptions of cultural change at selected tourist destinations of South Goa district, GoaIndia. The following study is purely field based, where in 337 responded were surveyed through a questionnaire at six coastal tourist destination, where tourism is the prime activity. The analysis reveals that majority of the respondents agree that there is positive as well as negative impacts due to tourism. Further, Factor analysis resulted in four tourism-related factors: Cultural Enhancement, Adverse Effects and Economic Developments & Threat to the local culture.

Perceptions, attitudes and involvement of local residents in the establishment of a Samothraki Biosphere Reserve, Greece

The process of establishing a biosphere reserve (BR) under UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere (MAB) programme on the island of Samothraki in the NE Aegean (Greece) is conceptualized as a case study of transdisciplinarity. The point of departure has been the wish to preserve an island with unique natural and cultural heritage from potentialy destructive pathways of transforming it into just another Greek beach tourist destination and to come up with an alternative development model. This has generated a unique opportunity to pre-structure, observe and reflect on a process of evolving decision making and management towards a sustainability transformation of an island. After several years of research and communication efforts, the mayor of Samothraki, with the unanimous support of the municipal council and the Greek National MAB Committee, submitted an application to UNESCO for Samothraki to be included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. A positive decision will make Samothraki the first post-Seville BR in Greece. After briefly introducing the study area, this report will discuss the opportunities of this new perspective, as well as the challenges that need to be faced, both on the ground and in people’s minds, for the island of Samothraki to become a true model of sustainable development in the wider region.
