The study investigates the use and awareness of e-resources among postgraduate students in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Barkatullah University, Bhopal. E-resources, such as online journals, databases, and digital libraries, have become increasingly important in academic research and learning. This paper aims to assess the level of awareness, access, and utilization of e-resources by postgraduate students, as well as identify the barriers and challenges they face. The study employed a survey-based methodology, involving a structured questionnaire distributed to a sample of 110 postgraduate students across various departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The findings reveal a moderate level of awareness and utilization of e-resources among the respondents.

Analyzing the COVID-19 Pandemic’s Effects on College Students: E-Learning Experience, Challenges and Resource Awareness

The library and information services of the twenty first century are rapidly changing education learning patterns because of the rapid development of electronic publishing libraries. However, the literature reveals the considerable unpredictability in experience, challenges, and awareness about E-resources among college students during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic scenario. In the aftermath of the pandemic, everyone has been forced to learn and teach E-resources in educational institutions worldwide. Along with their academic demands, college students are confronted by a lack of knowledge of handling e-learning resources and low network connectivity in remote regions. In this aspect, this study commenced to describe the experience, challenges, and awareness about e-learning resources. A descriptive and diagnostic research design was adopted and primary data was collected from college students through Google Forms with participant consent. The basic information about respondents, experience, challenges, and awareness of E-resources are tools of the study. The statistical analysis is to be carried out based on the study’s objective. This analysis was used to identify influential factors and to explore the relationships between e-learning experience, and resource awareness. Subsequently, the analysis is used to discuss recommendations for enhancing the utilization of e-learning resources based on the study’s findings.

Utilization of E-Resources by Research Scholar of Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur: A Study

The presented research article is related to the use and awareness of e-resources by research scholars of Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Jabalpur. Main objective of the study is to find out the awareness and use of e-resources among the Research Scholars, to explore the purpose for which the research scholar uses the e-resources, to find out the frequency of usage of e-resources, assessing satisfaction with the use of e-resources among research scholars, to examine the various problems faced by the research scholar, and to give suggestions for improvement. The purpose of the study is based on primary data collected from Research Scholars of Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Jabalpur. The study found that users were aware of e-resources, e-journals being used the most by 79 (24.92%) users. Research scholars 84 (29.89%) are using e-resources the most for their research. 66 (18.54%) respondents are facing the problem of Poor connectivity (Low bandwidth) and also 45 (12.64%) are facing Server down or system problem. Researchers are saving time for their research by using e-resources 81 (24.55%).

Interrelation Between Online Instruction and E-Resources in Higher Education

To measure the interrelationships between online instruction and e-resources in higher education is the objective of this study. Four hundred students who are studying for a master degree in Kathmandu Valley are randomly assigned. A correlational research design is applied within the nonexperimental study with a positivist philosophical background. Data are collected once through a semi-structured questionnaire. Relationships were identified using chi-square and logistic regression through Stata 14. The results show that the majority of students have limited access to e-resources. Less than one-third of students have utilized online resources. Students' satisfaction and perception of effective online instruction were more likely to utilize e-resources. The study concludes that online modes of instruction have limited success in utilizing online resources. The majority of students have limited access to e-resources and mainly depend on printed materials. The study suggests that practical-based training for utilizing online resources should be provided to enhance proficiency in technology and awareness of e-resources.

Use of electronic resources in research and learning in a health sciences library in Ghana: An analysis of awareness and perception of users

University libraries play a critical role by facilitating the use of their electronic resources and facilities available for students’ learning and research activities. Health and medical students and professionals are expected to use the electronic resources provided for their academic and research work. This study, therefore, seeks to investigate the acceptance and utilization of electronic resources in research and learning among users of the College of Health Sciences Library of the University of Ghana. The study employed a survey research design along with a quantitative approach to collect data from 128 respondents. A questionnaire was used for data collection, and it was analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 22 (SPSS) software. The study found that a majority of the respondents were aware of the electronic resources provided by the library, and they used various types of e-resources such as Google, Wikipedia, ScienceDirect and PubMed electronic sources. Moreover, the study found that the computer literacy skills of users have a positive relationship with the awareness of e-resources. Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between gender and the perceived usefulness of the use of e-resources. Last but not the least, the high cost of personal internet data and low internet bandwidth were challenges encountered by most of the respondents when accessing e-resources. The study made the following recommendations, among others, regular training on the use of e-resources, and libraries must collaborate effectively with lecturers to create awareness in the lecture hall and also some of the e-resources should be part of teaching instruction.

Awareness and Use of e-Resources by Researchers of Select Universities in Haryana

During this COVID-19 Pandemic, the entire world knows the value of electronic resources as all the work of reading, learning, administration is done with electronic mode. This study was conducted to have a comparative study of researchers among state universities of Haryana regarding use and awareness of e-resources as to type of electronic sources used, level of satisfaction, problems faced by them and suggestions to increase the use of electronic resources. Data was collected from the researchers of selected universities using a self-designed questionnaire. It was found that all researchers are aware about e-resources and the majority of respondents are using e-resources. 43.13% researchers prefer to access the e-resources from their respective departments. Researchers from Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa have shown more satisfaction with regard to e-theses/e-dissertations, e-standards/e-patents and library OPAC as compared to researchers of Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak as well as Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra. It is found that researchers from KUK are facing more problems like poor Internet connectivity and lack of library orientation as compared to respondents from CDLU and MDU. Majority of the researchers suggested that an e-mail alert service is needed to be started for library subscr ibed e-resources.

Responding to Student Needs through Library E-Database Investment – An MCAST Journey

The aim of this study was to explore the requirements of the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology (MCAST) library users and to propose an adequate solution to their academic needs. The present study also examines the current scenario at MCAST in relation to the usage and awareness of e-resources. A quantitative research approach was adopted for this study with a survey as a research instrument. This paper is based on a previous investigation conducted to better understand user satisfaction and associated issues. Like in any other area, librarianship and innovation walk hand in hand. In this case, digitalisation can be seen as both a challenge and an opportunity. MCAST Library is no exception. Prior to 2020, there was already a demand for more electronic resources in response to the addition of new courses. A thorough search was then conducted by the library team to find a solution to the users’ requirements. The selection of the ideal database was mainly based upon two variables. Firstly, its proper coverage of all the institutes was ensured. Secondly, the presence of new resources that are not duplicated in the databases available to MCAST at that time was confirmed. Following the analysis of feedback and comments obtained through an online questionnaire, the library focused on IEEE Xplore as it satisfied most of the requirements. Following the successful initial trial runs and the report of subsequent usage, the IEEE database was acquired. The provision of electronic resources indicates a boost in quality research amongst MCAST students, faculty, and researchers.

Utilization of E-Resources of the Faculty, Staff Members and Students of Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam

Intellectual activities Therefore, most of the universities in our country have started investing profusely to provide better service to their library users through easy access of e-resources for the advancement of learning and teaching and research activities. Agricultural College and Research Nowadays E-resources have essentially become part and parcel of higher education in its entire Institute, Killikulam also has provided quality e-resources for the access of its library users with all required infrastructures. The present study explores the availability of different e-resources, awareness of e-resources, the impediments encountered at the time of accessing the e-resources and the objectives of utilization of e-resources in Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam.

Postgraduate Agriculture Students’ Awareness of E-Resources: A Study

Tracing modern users’ awareness of various disciplines’ electronic resources (E-resources) is a must for the Library and Information Science (LIS) researchers so that the modern librarians can fulfil the expectations of the users. To meet their requirements, conducting a study such as this is an essential thing in the LIS field. The present study focuses on the Annamalai University Postgraduate Agriculture discipline users’ E-resources awareness across their branches namely Entomology, Agronomy, Agri-Extension, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Agri-Business and Bio-Technology. The data were collected during the year 2016. The targeted agricultural E-resources are CABI's (Centre for Agricultural Bioscience International) database, AGROVOC (Controlled vocabulary), AGRIS (International System for Agricultural Science and Technology), AgDB (Agriculture related Databases Directory) and AGRICOLA (Agricultural Online Access). This study also encompasses the said users’ library visit behaviours too. Of course, to analyse the library visit attitudes is one of the major objectives in LIS research. So, an attempt has been made to slice the data in order to trace the respondents’ library visit behaviours along with the users’ awareness of E-resources. Inferences have been drawn with the support of enough statistical evidences with more caution. Results would help the librarians/decision makers to get a narrowed down vision while designing their acquisition policies concerning to the Eresources that fall in Agriculture discipline. The formulated research questions are: (1) Do agriculture users significantly differ in their E-resources awareness? (2) Do agriculture users significantly differ in their awareness level group comparisons?

Awareness of E-Resources: A Study of Faculty of Lakki Reddy Bali Reddy Engineering College, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh

The basic aim of the study, designed based on the observation that electronic information resources (EIS) are used by engineering college faculty, was to find out or investigate the use of different types of EIS by the faculty of LBRC Engineering College Library. The objective survey design was adopted for the study. Thus, in total, 246 faculties in Lakireddy Bali Reddy College of Engineering were used as the sample for this study. Questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The results obtained revealed that faculty of different branches are quite aware and highly use EIS. The study also finds that faculty are aware of how to use the available electronic resources in the library. The study also investigated the number of days the faculty are using the college library in the campus and the frequency of visit by the faculty to library? Based on the findings, the study concluded that EIS are necessary for all department faculty of Lakireddy Bali Reddy College of Engineering for their individual development, research and teaching purpose.

The purpose of this paper is to propose an e-information literacy index that provides realistic values to distinguish whether university teachers are literate in regard to awareness and use of e-information resources by explaining the characteristics of e-information literate teacher. The present survey attempts to formulate e-information literacy index of university teachers by taking into consideration three components viz. awareness of e-resources, availability of ICT facilities and use of internet services and search techniques to retrieve e-information. The findings shows that 60.52 per cent teachers are e-information literate. Amongst the teachers, the index for Assistant Professors is highest followed by Professors and Associate Professors. It indicates that Assistant Professors are more e-information literate than their superiors. Amongst the universities, the index of Shivaji University, Kolhapur is highest. As far as author’s consciousness, there are several indices meant for different purposes but in the higher education sector to define the characteristics of e-information literate university teacher in terms of an index is unique and special.

Usage of E-Resources by the Faculty Members of Engineering College Libraries in Erode District, Tamil Nadu: An Analysis

Nowadays E-resources plays a vital role in every intellectual movement of higher education. Due to the significance of these E-resources lot of the academic institutions in India copiously investing to offer access to these e-resources to support teaching learning, and research purpose. The present Study reveals that the existence of different E-resources, awareness of E-resources, preference of E-resources, problems faced while accessing the E-resources and purpose of E-resources usage in faculty members of Engineering College Libraries in Erode District, Tamil Nadu.

A STUDY OF AWARENESS ON E-RESOURCES AMONG B.ED STUDENT TEACHERS

The essential of the study is the multiplying unfamiliarity of e-resources due to the let-down of electricity, which is a common problem in Palakkad area. Related other reasons are absence of time to utilize the I.T lab in time. The investigators and students from all disciplines are set to use e-Books in future. In order to build more teachers professional development and to improve the research practise they need in e-journals and e-books. The study aimed to examine the awareness on e-resources among B.Ed student teachers. The investigator adopted survey method to study the awareness on e-resources among B.Ed student teachers. For this study a sample of 200 B.Ed student teachers from three B.Ed training colleges which are situated in and around Palakkad district in Kerala selected by the investigator using simple random sampling technique. The findings reveal that there is no significant difference in the awareness of e-resources and e-resource technology among B.Ed Student Teachers.

Utilization of Electronic-resources by the postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur

This paper aims to evaluate the use of Electronic resources (E-resources) by the library users of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, with a view to examine the exposure of users to e-resources. Besides, it aims to highlight the alert services offered by the library, most preferred format of the journals, awareness of E-resources, helpfulness of e-resources and efforts made by the library for better E-services to their users. This study is based on a structured questionnaire; for the purpose of this study, total 822 questionnaires were distributed among the post graduate students, research scholars and faculty members. Of all distributed questionnaires, 412 questionnaires received back duly filled by the respondents. Various statistical methods have been used for analysis of data. The result of this study is presented and discussed in this paper.

E-Resources in Academic Medical Libraries: Analysis of Statistics to Inform Policy and Practice

Collecting and evaluating statistics for electronic resources is important to establishing effective action in policy and practice. This study examines methods for collecting data on the use of electronic resources in an academic medical library and how that information can affect decision making. Approaches for collecting data are discussed, with emphasis on consistent and reliable methods. Data are examined in aggregate and detail, and findings are discussed to highlight trends. Finally, implications to library policy and practice are considered in an effort to improve use and awareness of e-resources.

Reading Habit of B-School Users: A Case Study

The present study investigates the reading habits of the B-school users like students and faculties, thorough structured questionnaire. The purpose of this study is to know the users response about different aspects of reading habits. All the data obtained in the present study are presented in the form of tables for final interpretations. This study also highlights the various approaches used to study reading habits, such as frequency of the use of the library, different types of reading material used by the users, awareness of E-resources among the users of library resources. Abraham Lincoln said “The things I want to know are in books. My friend is the man who will get a book to read.”
