The peculiarity of Pushkin-related texts in modern Russian literature

The topic of the article is relevant and timely, because the work is devoted to the study of works of mainly modern Russian literature. This article uses an integrated approach to the analysis of literary texts, including interpretative, analytical, intertextual and other methods. In the course of the conducted research, some "secondary" works of past periods of the literary process were updated, which in one way or another addressed the legacy of A.S. Pushkin. Empirical material: in the main part of the article, attention is focused on three categories of texts from the late XX–XXIst centuries, which use Pushkin's reminiscences, the Pushkin code, and the Pushkin myth. They are divided into three groups in the article: variations of modern literary references to the novel "Eugene Onegin"; works from the category of "alternative history", suggesting the construction of a different - fictional - fate of Pushkin; the use by modern authors of a kind of "literary franchise" of the legacy of Pushkin. As a result of the analysis, we come to the following conclusions: the importance of Pushkin's legacy for modern culture and literature is enormous. It encourages current artists of the word to bold, but not always productive experiments related to variations of Pushkin's texts, their sequels, parodies,new alternative historical twists and more. We believe that such phenomena as a whole can be considered an important component of the modern literary process, which should help restore interest in the classical heritage among younger generations.

Teacher presence in EFL-learners’ (re-)creation of text for literary text comprehension

In anglophone countries, creative writing as an established university course of studies aims at preparing budding authors for their future profession. Creative writing in the context of teaching English as a foreign language at school in Germany is related to the methodological principles of action- and production-orientation. The latter focus on the learners’ response to literary texts thereby allowing them to combine literary text analysis and creative alternations of the texts under discussion. The question arises as to what aspects of a teacher’s presence in an EFL-classroom facilitate pupils’ creating imaginative texts of their own. Moreover, if the texts created by EFL-learners are designed to be performed, the teacher’s presence directing their pupils from written productions to oral performances needs further substantiating. In this paper, it is claimed that the success of creative writing and performing the texts pro­duced largely depends upon the English language teacher’s presence vis-à-vis subject matter knowledge, classroom management, and rapport to their pupils. In this way, teachers make their learners experience creative writing not only as a form of com­prehending literary texts, but also as a way to help students reflect upon their roles as writers, learners, and performers of English as a foreign language.

ЖАЗУШЫ А. КЕМЕЛБАЕВА ӘҢГІМЕЛЕРІНДЕГІ ТҰЛҒА КОНЦЕПЦИЯСЫ

The article discusses the concept of personality in the stories of the writer A. Kemelbaeva. The concept of personality in the work is the result of the author's worldview, position. Personality is the carrier of the author's point of view. The main goal of the scientific work is to consider the entire close unity between the author and the person on the basis of the writer's stories, analyze the features of the creation of images and the cognitive-ideological nature, the individuality of the approach. Although the images in the author's stories are simple working people of various fields, they are educated people of today's time, savvy in the phenomena of the world. Feeling the mystical power of creation and understanding it, he relies on the beliefs of the people. He believes in the truth of the creator, in his power. It is noted that freedom of belief, morality, and its significance in human life are one of the main characteristics of the writer's heroes. The main direction in his works is rooted in the best examples of World Literature; his stories are distinguished by an unexpected plot development, a rich artistic solution and content, National color. The scientific and practical significance of the work is that it contributes to literary studies in the study of the process of development of modern Kazakh prose, artistic searches and the continuation of traditions. After all, A. Kemelbaeva is a writer who does not repeat others, always brings innovations to Kazakh literature with his fresh searches and stylistic individuality. Especially in his stories, the mythical-mystical character, the detective line, ethnographic scenes, the revived use of traditional examples of oral literature express the author's stylistic individuality, the specifics of the artistic worldview. In the philological analysis of literary texts, biographical, historical-social, structural-descriptive, psychoanalytic methods were used. The results of the research work can be used in special courses of Philology of higher educational institutions, lectures on modern Kazakh literature. The theoretical and practical significance of the results of the work is characterized by the identification of the main place, historical nature and other features of the concept of personality in literary studies in the analysis of a work of art.

THE IMAGE OF KAZAKH ZOO-PHRASEOLOGISMS IN TRANSLATION (on the basis of novel “The Nomads” by I. Esenberlin in Kazakh, Russian and English languages)

The article considers the translation problems of zoo-phraseologisms of Kazakh language. The translation problem is an actual and complex theme and translation of phraseological units is an interesting task which needs special creativity. The main objective of a translator is to find phraseologism in a sentence and distinguish its ethocultural peculiarities and translation of such a phraseological unit keeping their national features is a rather complicated problem. That is why the actuality and the importance of the given articlegroup with these problems. Phraseological units of ethnocultural character does not replicate in the second language, and cannot be found in dictionaries. Therefore the scientific novelty of the article is the identification and analysis of translation methods of phraseological units of ethnocultural character which describe the culture, lifestyle and worldview of definite people. The article aims to make definite conclusions according to the results of research work by analyzing the methods of translating phraseological units appropriate to the definite nation, defining the failures and successes of translation.The translation methods of Kazakh phraseologisms into Russian and English languages are compared and analysed on the basis of the trilogy “The Nomads” by I. Essenberlin. Using the phraseologisms with zoo-component as the main material, the ways of translation (comparative, descriptive methods) were analysed. The meaning of them can be different while translating into other language, and so translators should try to keep the meaning of the word combination correctly or find the right analogue to make the reader understand the translated phrasal combination. Thepractical significance of the research with scientific value can be used at the courses of Lexicology, Phraseology, The theory and practice of translation, and as the lexical material in subjects as Linguocultorology and Linguistic analysis of literary texts and to compile dictionaries in higher education institutes.

The Archaeology of Absence in Kamila Shamsie’s <i>A God in Every Stone</i>

Approximately 1.4 million Indians were recruited to the First World War. Despite their role in the war and the high number of deaths, most of the literature in English on the Great War has been narrowed down to British experience. However, in recent years their stories have been emerging through fiction, in academic research and educational projects resulting in a more complete picture of the war and who was involved. A British arts education group engaged students in a project designed to teach and share the stories of forgotten soldiers from World War I. Writing about the project in The Guardian in 2018 Kamila Shamsie claimed the aim was to teach school children about the war and the involvement of non-British recruits whose narratives had up till then been unknown. In academia, respected scholars such as Santanu Das or Claire Buck have undergone thorough research on the representation of Indian recruits through an analysis of literary texts and artefacts states that war memories of the Indian sepoy whose stories were left behind and forgotten on the battle ground. According to Das, the lack of stories by Indian recruits does not mean that history cannot be rectified since it is possible to recover the experience and memory of the recruits. Recently emerging literary representation of the Indian recruit provided historical insight into their experience shedding light on new perspectives of the War. The aim of this article is to analyse the representation of Indian recruits and their experience of World War I in Kamila Shamsie’s 2014 novel <i>A God in Every Stone.</i> I argue that through fiction, it is possible to construct a broader and more inclusive understanding of this historical event as well as to uncover deeper complexities and anxieties on the Indian colonial experience.

Methodological regulation of the education of family values of students – future literature teachers in the process of professional training

Introduction. In a period of permanent social upheaval, the education of traditional family values among new generations of Russian citizens plays a huge role in the development of society. In this regard, it is relevant to study the technological aspects of preparing a literature teacher for the fruitful formation of traditional family values among schoolchildren of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the process of literary education. The purpose of the article is to develop and test in the process of training future teachers of the Russian language and literature a system of methods and techniques for the formation of traditional family values in teaching literature at school. Materials and methods. The study involved students from the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education «North-Eastern Federal University named after. M.K. Ammosov» in the field of training 03/44/05 Pedagogical education (with two profiles of training). Methods: content analysis of legal, scientific, scientific and methodological literature, questionnaires, pedagogical experiment, analysis of student creative works. Results. The study identified such key family values of students as mutual help and «care for relatives» (39%), «respect for elders» (37.5%), «mutual respect» (35%). The prevalence of the educational role of the grandmother (32%) in the traditional Yakut family was revealed. The formation of family values is closely related to the use of conversations, joint family events, analysis of literary texts by Russian and regional authors in literature classes using dialogization and problem situations. Conclusion. The results of the study showed that students are aware of the important mission of a language teacher in the formation of traditional family values of schoolchildren in the process of teaching literature and are ready to use such current technologies as dialogization, problem-based learning, and visualization in their activities.

Pragmatic Strategies in Artistic Translation: Balancing Creativity and Cultural Adaptation

This study investigates the communicative-pragmatic aspects of artistic translation, focusing on how translators navigate the complexities of preserving the original text's artistic and aesthetic integrity while adapting it to a different cultural and linguistic context. Despite extensive research in translation studies, a systematic exploration of pragmatic motivations and strategies in artistic translation remains underdeveloped. This research addresses this gap by employing a comprehensive methodological approach that includes descriptive-analytical, semantic-stylistic, and literary analysis of original texts and their translations. The findings highlight the critical role of the translator's creative interpretation in maintaining the balance between fidelity to the original text and the need for cultural adaptation. The results demonstrate that pragmatic strategies significantly influence the translation process, particularly in how verbal-artistic information is transformed to resonate with the target audience. The study also suggests that these strategies are essential for achieving functional equivalence and preserving the artistic value of the original work. The implications of this research are significant for both translation theory and practice, emphasizing the need for enhanced training programs that focus on the development of creative and pragmatic skills in translators. Further research is recommended to explore the emotional and experiential dimensions of translation, as these aspects remain crucial yet underexplored in current literature.

AI, heritage and critical thinking development: an education experience within university context

Educational policy makers identify Critical thinking (CT) as an essential driver for development and knowledge growth in any field and in the broad society. Even in the post-pandemic era, CT continues to be defined as one of the skills to be most promoted at the various levels of formal education and training contexts. In particular, with the raise of AI, it is crucial for educational institutions to encourage a critical approach to technology in students, especially in the analysis, interpretation and evaluation of information in order to make decisions and solve problems, also in digital contexts. Art experiences, literary stimuli and writing activities are helpful pedagogical strategies for CT enhancement especially when supported by the use of technologies. Starting from the above-mentioned evidence, a university module was designed by combining collaborative and creative writing sessions based on critical analysis of literary texts and the experience of figurative arts. More than 100 students worked in groups and their CT level was assessed at different times of the course. In particular, AI and machine learning tools were used to identify indicators of critical thinking in the texts produced by the students and to assess the relationship between the production of written texts and the development of CT and reasoning within students taking part in the educational experience. The research results could be used to improve university course design or professional development training courses for CT teaching and learning.

The article examines the life and work of the Russian-speaking Adyghe (Kabardian) poetess Inna Inalovna Kashezheva. The purpose of the work is a comprehensive study of her creative heritage in the evolution of national literatures and the domestic literary process. The research uses meth-ods of literary analysis, synthesis, description, as well as comparative-historical, cultural-historical, socio-historical methods. The structure of the work includes an introduction, two sec-tions in which the authors conduct an analysis of literary texts and translations, as well as a con-clusion. The introductory part highlights the main stages of I. Kashezheva’s life and creative path. A biobibliographical certificate is presented, and the poetess’s birth date is determined using cur-rent opinions from literary scholars, critics, publicists, and friends and acquaintances. Issues con-cerning the formation of creativity are explored, the first publications of poetry are studied, previ-ously undiscovered works and books are placed into scholarly circulation (a collection of transla-tions of poems by I. Kashezheva “Laabze” / “Mark”; a two-volume collected works, etc.). The ar-ticle examines lifetime publications and books that were published after her departure and addi-tionally include works of art, articles about life and work, dedication poems/messages from I. Ka-shezheva from colleagues in the pen, as well as her translations, interviews and essays about poets of Kabardino-Balkaria. In the main research part of the article, an analysis of poems and songs is carried out; the main motives of poetry, the structural and compositional features of the works, which together constitute the poetic ethnocode of I. Kashezheva, are identified. The results ob-tained in the future will contribute to a further, more in-depth and extensive monographic study of the poetry of I. Kashezheva, restoring a complete picture of the evolution of her work.

THE SERMON AND MODERN GENRE CLASSIFICATION

The sermon is defined as a "genre of oratorical prose: a didactic work that contains ethical demands and prompts the listener to an emotional perception of those demands". In the literary room encyclopedia has not been given much attention until now, and the interest in it can even be named as limited. It occurs only within general rhetoric, history, theology, and philosophy. The area functional variety of language includes the sphere of religion, where the sermon also belongs. Here, in this paper, we try to systematize the observations related to the genre classification of the sermon. Concerning the sermon, as one of the most significant genres in the area of the sacred, special attention deserves consideration and analysis of its specific communicative properties. The questions in this sphere refer to its realization in oral form, the referral to a collective addressee, the asymmetry between the communicants (absolute dominance of the preacher over the recipients), strong presence of intertextuality and linguistic features, among which the interaction of archaic and modern language units on the lexical, phonetic, morphological and syntactic level. The textological peculiarities of the sermon remain the focus of one of the following scientific - research activities, which on the other hand enables a functional analysis of the medieval literary texts (the praise epistle of St. Clement of Ohrid, for example).

Analysis of Nonlinear Narrative via the Lens of the Coherence Theory of Language

The objective of this study is to examine the utilization of nonlinear narrative approaches in literature and investigate the potential optimization of comprehension of intricate plots through the application of linguistics-related knowledge. This study has determined, based on an examination of pertinent literature, that the use of non-linear narrative techniques can augment the appeal and intricacy of a literary piece, while also intensifying the level of reading challenge for its audience. This research use qualitative research methodologies to examine the utilization of non-linear narrative approaches, with a focus on comprehending these strategies through the analysis of textual data. The findings indicate that the principles of linguistic theory can be effectively employed in the analysis of literary texts as well as in the interpretation of films and television productions. This discovery has the potential to enhance the applicability of linguistics, thereby bridging a portion of the existing disparity between linguistic theory and real-world applications.

Cross-Language Translation and Comparative Study of English Literature Using Machine Translation Algorithms

Cross-language processing in English literature involves the translation and analysis of literary texts from English into other languages or vice versa. This multidimensional task encompasses various aspects, including language translation, cultural adaptation, and literary interpretation. Through cross-language processing, literary works originally written in English can reach a wider audience, enabling individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds to access and appreciate the richness of English literature. This paper presents an innovative approach to language processing tasks through the integration of Ant Swarm Domain Statistical Machine Learning (ASDS-ML). Leveraging principles of swarm intelligence and statistical learning techniques, ASDS-ML offers a robust framework for addressing challenges in language translation and classification. In the domain of translation, ASDS-ML demonstrates promising results in achieving accurate and nuanced translations across diverse language pairs, while also exhibiting adaptability to varying linguistic contexts. Furthermore, ASDS-ML showcases its effectiveness in text classification tasks, accurately categorizing instances across multiple classes with high precision and recall. In language translation tasks, ASDS-ML achieves an average BLEU score of 0.85 across multiple language pairs, outperforming baseline methods by 10%. Additionally, in text classification tasks, ASDS-ML achieves an average accuracy of 0.92 across ten different classes, surpassing existing approaches by 5%.

The paper also addresses challenges and opportunities presented by the intersection of Digital Humanities and English literature studies, highlighting potential for interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative scholarship, and enhanced understanding of literary works in the digital age.

The Importance of the Method of Creating a Thesaurus in the Study of Literary Texts

The article examines the scientific methodological foundations of thesauru research of literary texts. To this end, the formation of the concept of thesaurus and the meaning of the thesaurus method, the types of thesaurus dictionary and their main function are analyzed. The importance of the thesaurus research method in the study of literary texts is determined. The research used methods such as systematization, generalization, sorting, and formulation of the material. The article pays special attention to foreign and domestic thesaurus studies, analyzes the types of thesaurus dictionaries and their features. The article compares the thesaurus and a simple dictionary, identifies a number of optimal moments and ineffective aspects of the thesaurus. In the article, the thesaurus is recognized as a special terminological dictionary within a particular subject area, the meanings of which are close to terms (words and phrases) and semantic relations between them and grouped into concepts. The thesaurus analysis method is also an important research method in modern literary science. The thesaurus research method is widely used in the analysis of literary texts, as it allows you to identify semantic connections between words and understand the meaning of a work, helps to analyze and classify words, create dictionaries and lexical databases. The results achieved in the course of the study can be used in thesaurus research, the construction of a thesaurus based on literary texts.

Bridging Worlds Through Comparative Literature

This study emphasizes the critical role of comparative literary studies in understanding the modern literary process. Traditional literary analyses often overlook the rich intercultural dynamics that comparative studies highlight. Our research aims to bridge this gap by developing a theoretical framework that comprehends literary aesthetics in a globalized context through a qualitative analysis of diverse literary texts. Initial findings reveal that such a comparative approach not only deepens our understanding of universal literary themes but also enhances the appreciation of diverse cultural expressions. This work underscores the importance of integrating comparative literary studies into mainstream literary education to foster a more inclusive understanding of global literary phenomena. WORLD LITERARY STUDIES AS A FIELD OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE: TRADITIONS AND TRENDS

Literature and art are continuously in search of new means of expression, and communication. In the process of renewal, artistic culture acquires new aesthetic principles, an artistic fusion of the objective and the subjective. The idea of a work in a realistic narrative sounds gradually, naturally. The plot develops around a fact that reveals the meaning of the work. The aesthetic assimilation of reality proceeds in several directions, in different genres of prose and poetry, drama and journalism, in a diverse creative manner, which is unique for each author of a work of art. The relevance of this article lies in the fact that it traces the evolution of the basic concepts of world literary criticism, which has its own scientific principles, systems of methods and terminology. Literary criticism and critical thought create a special associative field, confirming the importance of the transition in the literary process from ideology to issues of personal existence. Domestic and world literary studies are included in the research field of the humanities, but there are frequent attempts to absorb them into intensively developing interdisciplinary research. The scientific novelty of this research is seen in the generalization of the theoretical views on modern world literary criticism of major literary scholars and critics in Europe, the USA, the CIS countries, authors of sections of collective monographs of the Auezov Institute of Literature and Art «The latest foreign literature», «The world literary process of the 21st century», «Kazakh-American literary connections: current state and prospects», the textbook «The world literary process: content, directions, trends». The basis for the research is the scientific concepts of literary text analysis, theories of critical discourse analysis of literary works, existential criticism and others. Based on the analysis, review of the current state of the leading theoretical schools of world literary criticism (with cultural studies, literary criticism, structural poetics, the concept of semiosphere, theory of cultural transfer and others). It has been established that the science of literature has its own object of study, a special essence, which distinguishes it from the exact and natural sciences.

Text, Discourse, Dicteme, Language Personality as Basic Concepts of Text Linguistics

The study is devoted to the consideration of the terms, which are the most frequently used and significant for the formation of meaning in linguistics. The relevance of the study is, on the one hand, determined by the variety of approaches to their definition and interpretation, and, on the other hand, by the necessity to specify them to facilitate academic communication and linguistic analysis. The purpose of this work is to consider a number of such concepts and substantiate our approach to them and their interpretation. The study uses both general theoretical and linguistic research methods. Particular attention is paid to phenomenological analysis while considering the terms themselves, as well as semantic, categorical-constitutive, positional and pragmatic analysis while studying empirical material. There are considered the concepts of text, discourse, dicteme as a text unit, language personality of an author, or a narrator and a reader/listener. The article analyzes differences between the text and discourse concepts. The work substantiates heuristic potential of a dicteme as a minimum text unit. The dicteme is studied both - from elementary and holistic approaches, as a fractal that forms the space of the whole text according to synergistic laws. The study emphasizes the ideological role of a linguistic personality both at the stages of creation and consumption of a text. There is carried out a linguistic analysis of an English literary text in order to identify denotative and conceptual information in its ideological and aesthetic manifestation in it. The study highlights the role of strong positions of text in the transfer of conceptual information and considers the function of influence in an artistic and media works, which, in the first case, is mainly emotive in nature, and, in the second, manipulative. It underlines the interdependence of the conceptual priorities of the creator and consumer of a media text.

An Ecocritical Exploration of Bakhtin's Major Concepts in Solar Storms

Mikhail Bakhtin is a Russian scholar who has been studied internationally in fields of literature and the humanities. Basing his theory on the principle of communication, Bakhtin formed a significant path in literary and cultural studies. Some scholars like Michael Gardiner (1993), Michael M. Bell (1994), Michael J. McDowell (1996), Timo Müller (2010) and Patrick D. Murphy (2013) propose that Bakhtin’s concepts can be appropriated to ecocriticism to make more powerful analyses of literary texts since both Bakhtinian literary criticism and ecocriticism highlight diversity, heterogeneity, agency, and interaction. In this way, Bakhtinian ecocritical theory suggests a new definition of the human subject in its relation to the physical environment and nonhuman beings. Revealing the viability of Bakhtinian critical theory with ecological concerns, this article aims to study the novel Solar Storms by Linda Hogan, a Native American female writer, through an “eco-Bakhtinian” approach to explore how nature is represented in Native American context, how the relationship between human and nonhuman worlds is depicted, how both worlds function in one another, how and why the perception of nature differs in cultural aspects, and how the concept of nature has changed over time. In doing so, this article attempts to show the interaction between culture-nature, human-nonhuman, earth-body, body-mind, traditional-modern, native-non-native, fact-fiction, story-history, self-other, individual-society, and text-reader.

This paper reviews the conceptual and theoretical framework propounded by Ankhi Mukherjee. Her framework is developed through rigorous analyses of literary texts from diverse genres. It is philosophically underpinned in psychoanalysis and postcolonial studies. The interdisciplinary framework is eclectic in nature and it can be used in trauma studies, ageing population, mental health, health communication, and urban studies. This paper delineates the development of the framework and its application.
