The relevance of the study of social activity of students is the presence of unsolved problems of stabilization and harmonization of the development of society and its members. Students concentrate the values of biological, psychophysical and intellectual potential. So the task of directing social development and social activity is assigned to them. Therefore, the socio-pedagogical study of the formation of social activity of students, is a priority for a positive transformation of civic activity. The aim of the article is to analyze the approaches to understanding the essence and content of the term of “social activity of student youth” and identifying its social and pedagogical aspect. To achieve this goal, the following methods were used: analysis to explicate the definition of the concepts “social activity”, “student youth”; generalization to establish a common and different between interpretations of the concept of social activity in various scientific fields; synthesis to substantiate the concept of social activity of students on the basis of the analyzed content components. As a result of the study, the term of social activity and student youth were analyzed and defined. Analysis of various approaches (philosophical, sociological, pedagogical, social and pedagogical) to understanding the term of social activity allowed us to identify common features for the further formation of the definition. The term of “social activity of students’ youth” is formed, which is understood as a special dynamic education, which is characterized by a specific set of psychophysical, age and intellectual abilities of a student (age limits, intellectual potential, mobility, reactionary, high emotionality, high level of motivation, possession of new communication channels) and aims to implement a positive transformation of life.
