STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) is an integrated approach to learning that emphasizes the importance of combining science with art and design. This article examines the methodological features of introducing STEAM technology into the educational system of the Kyrgyz Republic, and also explores the contribution of this approach to sustainable education and development of the country. The article analyzes the main components of STEAM education, presents methods and practical aspects of its implementation, and also evaluates the results and prospects for further development of this area. The article reveals the methodological features of the introduction of STEAM technology, such as the integration of subjects, the active participation of students and the use of modern technologies, which play a key role in achieving this goal. This can contribute to the sustainable development of the country and increase its competitiveness on the world stage.

Project development with STEM features

This article presents an analysis of selected projects developed at the Tecnológico Nacional de México Salvatierra (TecNM-ITESS). These projects help students to develop STEAM skills. Mechatronics and TIC’s engineering programs are included in our case of study. The first part of this article, the ITESS operational framework is presented. Then, it is described Bloom's taxonomy and the PISA tests as reference tools for the development and measurement of student’s capabilities. Also, education quality indicators are presented for the TecNM-ITESS and state government of Guanajuato. Indicator and STEM skills are studied to find relationships. In addition, different academic events and calls for projects that facilitate the participation of students in activities that promote STEAM skills are discussed. In a second part, some projects where students have participated are presented, the strategies used for the dissemination, identification and training of students are discussed. As well as, a sentiment analysis is presented where data has been collected from students who were involved in projects.

The Influence of Spirituality on Academic Engagement through Achievement Motivation and Resilience

Academic involvement refers to the active participation of students in the learning environment. There are several factors that directly or indirectly influence students' academic involvement, including spirituality, achievement motivation, and resilience. This research aims to explore the impact of spirituality on academic involvement by examining its relationship with achievement motivation and resilience. The research adopts a quantitative correlational approach and considers three types of variables: independent variables, dependent variables, and intervening variables. The study involves 200 active students from the Islamic Religious Education Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang, who were selected using a lottery method. Data collection for this research was done through a questionnaire, and the analysis involved descriptive statistics and path analysis. The findings of the study demonstrate a significant influence of spirituality on students' academic involvement through achievement motivation and resilience. This suggests that spirituality has an impact on both achievement motivation and resilience. Furthermore, the study reveals that achievement motivation and resilience also play a role in shaping students' academic involvement. Overall, the results indicate that spirituality positively affects academic involvement by promoting achievement motivation and resilience. Thus, students with strong spirituality tend to exhibit higher levels of achievement motivation and resilience, which in turn positively contribute to their academic involvement.

КЫРГЫЗ АДАБИЯТЫ САБАГЫНДА ОКУУЧУЛАРДЫ ШЫКТАНДЫРУУНУН ЫКМАЛАРЫ ЖАНА АҢГЕМЕРЛЕРДИ ОКУТУУДА ЭТНОПЕДАГОГИКАНЫН ЭЛЕМЕНТТЕРИН ПАЙДАЛАНУУ

The article shows several ways to inspire students in a Kyrgyz literature lesson, and what the teacher’s activities should be. Getting students interested in a lesson is not a difficult task. The main problem is insufficient knowledge of methods and technologies for active student participation in the classroom or the inability to implement them. First of all, it is necessary to have information about the methods that interest students. Then, through experience, the deficiencies are made up for. It was noted what should be relied on when encouraging students to study. Our folk pedagogy is a rich heritage, an inexhaustible treasure left by our ancestors, who absorbed, so to speak, the sourdough of Kyrgyz history and culture, spanning dozens of centuries. The more we hold them sacred, appreciate them and learn to study them, the more they reveal their amazing secrets to us. Therefore, it was proposed to use elements of ethnopedagogy in the Kyrgyz literature lesson. The article can be used by teachers, parents and students.

Student-Centered Learning Based on the Principles of Ki Hajar Dewantara in the Implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum: A Case Study of Elementary Schools in Indonesia

Student-centered learning through the Merdeka Curriculum is a breakthrough in education in Indonesia by integrating the values of Ki Hajar Dewantara. The challenge of implementing this integration is, of course, that it is necessary to formulate solutions for the implementation that has been taking place so far in order to ensure that education creates citizens who are independent, have integrity and are able to face future challenges. Therefore, this research aims to describe the application of the Merdeka curriculum to science and science learning based on the principles contained in the thoughts of Ki Hajar Dewantara, describing the obstacles and challenges faced during student-centered learning activities. This study is a qualitative research. The subjects of this research consist of teachers and school principals at the elementary education level. The data collection techniques used include interviews and observations. Research findings data was analyzed interactively and described to provide an overview of actual field events. The research results show that student-centered learning in science and science learning has adopted Ki Hajar Dewantara's principles. Besides that, the principal's statement is also very positive and committed to making student-centered learning a success by implementing these principles. However, its implementation cannot be separated from the various challenges faced. Therefore, it is hoped that the application of Ki Hajar Dewantara's principles in student-centered learning can have a positive impact on the development of student character and student participation in learning activities and can be used as a learning model that is still relevant to the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka.

APPLICATION OF JIGSAW MODELS ON CARBON COMPOUND DERIVATIVES OF ALKANES MATERIALS TO FURTHER SCHOOLER ACTIVITIES

This research is motivated by the fact that there are low achievement levels and a need for more active student participation in the learning activities of. An action research study was conducted to improve student learning outcomes using the Jigsaw Method to address this issue. The stages in the cooperative learning Jigsaw method consist of forming original groups, assigning problems to each student, preparing students within expert teams, and returning students to their original groups. The classroom action research used in this study follows the Kemmis and Mc. The Taggart method is a self-spiraling system consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, reflection, and re-planning. Data from the research were obtained from 1) Observation of student activity and teacher performance, 2) Formative tests at the end of each action, and 3) Student response scale questionnaires regarding Jigsaw cooperative learning. The data analysis technique used was simple qualitative descriptive statistics. The research results indicate the following: 1) Student activity index increased by 18.67% from cycle I to cycle II, 2) Improvement in student learning outcomes from pre-PTK to cycle I was 15.84%, and from cycle I to cycle II it was 9.16%, 3) Student response to learning reached a score of 77.93%, indicating that students responded positively to the learning.

Enhancing Preschool English Vocabulary Through Multimedia Tools: Insights from a Mixed-Methods Study

Purpose – The primary objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of multimedia tools in augmenting English vocabulary enrichment in preschool environments. This study was driven by the need to explore innovative approaches in early childhood language education and assess these tools' impact in enhancing learning experiences. Design/methods/approach – Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the study, conducted in two North Aceh preschools, evaluated multimedia integration in teaching and its impact on student outcomes, motivation, and engagement. It combined observations, document analysis, interviews, and tests, employing qualitative (educator interviews) and quantitative (vocabulary pre-and post-tests) data collection methods. Findings – The findings significantly improved students' vocabulary acquisition and active participation. Using multimedia tools in teaching and incredibly interactive PowerPoint presentations led to enhanced engagement and effectiveness in learning. Students showed marked improvements in self-confidence and language skills. The study also observed that multimedia integration fostered collaborative learning and increased technological proficiency among students. Research implications/limitations – These findings imply a potential paradigm shift in early childhood language education, suggesting incorporating multimedia tools for more engaging and compelling learning experiences. The study's limitations include its focus on specific preschool environments and the potential challenge of replicating the approach in resource-limited settings. Further research is needed to assess the approach's applicability in diverse educational contexts and its long-term impacts. Originality/value – This study offers novel insights into the application of multimedia tools in early childhood language education. It highlights how innovative teaching methods can significantly improve vocabulary skills and educational outcomes. These findings suggest impactful changes in teaching practices and pave the way for future research and potential shifts in educational policies. Paper Type Research paper

Approaches and Strategies for Character Education for Santri at the AI ​​Riyadloh Islamic Boarding School, Semarang Regency

The objective of this research is to identify optimal methods for suitably imparting character education. The data-gathering methods employed in this research encompass observation, interviews, and documentation. Triangulation serves as a method to assess the accuracy and reliability of the acquired data. Data analysis was conducted via data reduction methodologies, data visualization, and inference drawing. The research findings indicate that character education at the API Al Riyadloh Islamic Boarding School employs two distinct approaches: a teacher-centered approach and a student-centered approach. In a teacher-centered method, the instructor assumes an active position as an authoritative figure who is revered and obeyed by pupils based on the teachings found in the texts being taught. Conversely, a student-centered approach promotes the active participation of students in structured nighttime learning activities. In addition to that, the API Al Riyadloh Islamic Boarding School employs six ways to cultivate the students' character. The tactics encompass habituation, cultivation, acquiring knowledge of positive attributes, experiencing and cherishing positivity, engaging in virtuous activities, emulating positive influences from the environment, and seeking repentance. These tactics aim to cultivate students' familiarity with kindness, comprehension of moral principles, emotional connection to and appreciation for kindness, and active engagement in virtuous deeds

PROJECT-BASED LEARNING AS AN EFFECTIVE APPROACH TO TEACHING BIOLOGY IN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN PODILLIA

The article explores the problem of the limited effectiveness of traditional teaching methods in biology within the context of modern educational environments for the students of Podillia. The research aims to determine the effectiveness of project-based learning as an alternative approach in teaching biology at the higher education level for the students of Podillia. The study involves an analysis of recent research and publications related to the identified problem. Research methods: theoretical (analysis and synthesis of literary sources, generalization and comparison of data, prediction of further actions) and empirical (observation, pedagogical experiment, pedagogical reflection). The research findings confirm that project-based learning facilitates active student participation, fosters the development of creative thinking, and enhances communicative, soft skills for the students of Podillia. The scientific novelty of this article lies in conducting a research that addresses the problem of insufficient effectiveness of traditional teaching methods in the context of modern educational environment for students in the Podillia region. Additionally, the article explores project-based learning as an alternative approach in teaching biology at the higher education level for Podillia students. Therefore, this article contributes significantly to the field of biological education by proposing a new approach to teaching biology at the higher education level, which can enhance the learning outcomes for students in the Podillia region. The conclusions of the study emphasize the significance of project-based learning in the context of teaching biology in higher education and suggest prospects for further research in this approach for the students of Podillia and other regions.

Развитие гуманистической направленности современной системы образования России: условия реализации

The education system includes the main social institutions that perform the functions of upbringing and education. A common characteristic of any education system is the orientation towards the transfer of knowledge and the formation of skills in order to develop students. At the same time, each stage of social development corresponds to an education system that meets the requirements for the results and goals of education in a particular society. Historically, the evolution of educational systems is interconnected with the transformation of the socio-political structure. The need for a serious reform of the Russian educational system arose under the infl uence of two interrelated factors: the collapse of the Soviet Union in December 1991 and its education system, and the rejection of the existing ideology of educating the younger generation. The protracted reform of the Russian education system is currently causing a lot of criticism from experts and the public, one of which is the deviation from humanistic traditions in teaching practice. The subject of analysis in the article is the conditions that ensure the implementation of the idea of developing the humanistic orientation of the modern education system in Russia. At the origins of the implementation of any idea is a person, innovations in educational practice are embodied by a teacher. Consequently, the backbone components capable of ensuring the embodiment of the idea of a humanistic orientation of the modern education system in Russia are the goals of education that are consonant with this orientation and the pedagogical staff that ensure their achievement. At the same time, the reforms of domestic education in the post-Soviet period led to the loss of the primacy of the educational component in the educational process. Currently, society and the state are making efforts to make up for this mistake. However, a signifi cant obstacle to solving this problem is often the unpreparedness of teachers to implement the educational functions of education based on the humane principles of pedagogy, the basis of which is to take into account the individual characteristics and personal needs of the pupil. The introduction of new forms and methods of working with students will not provide long-term results if it does not affect the foundations of the education system. The purpose of the article is to systematize and supplement information about the conditions that contribute to the development of the humanistic orientation of the modern education system in Russia. The author evaluates the evolution of two ideas: the humanization of education and the formation of a professional orientation in the system of teacher training. The humanistic orientation is substantiated by the author as part of a professional orientation. The origins, problems and approaches to the scientifi c analysis of the idea of the formation and development of the humanistic orientation of future teachers in the conditions of university education are analyzed. To obtain substantiated scientifi c results, the author analyses the normative documentation of the Russian education system, dissertation research, current periodicals and the educational environment of the university. The paper also indicates the reasons preventing the mass dissemination of humanistic ideas in modern Russian education. Thus, the author draws reasonable conclusions about the set of conditions necessary for the development of the humanistic orientation of the education system of modern Russia. Among the conditions mediated by the system of training of pedagogical personnel are: respectful relations of the subjects of the educational process; selection of the content of education; use of active forms and methods of training and education; participation of students in volunteer activities, including leader activities; creation of a special educational environment of the university. The general conclusion of the article is the emphasis on the dependence of the embodiment of the idea of developing the humanistic orientation of the Russian education system on the organizational and pedagogical conditions of the modern system of training teachers. The teaching staff in this historical period is a system-forming component of the Russian education system, on which the results of its transformation depend.

Program Pelatihan Empati Sebagai Strategi Mengurangi Perilaku Bullying pada Remaja

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of various empathy training programs, including Role-Playing, Effective Communication Training, Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs), Peer Mediation Programs, Emotional Literacy Training, and Anti-Bullying Training Programs, in reducing bullying behavior among adolescents. Through a literature review approach, the study examines the impact and implementation of each program in developing empathy and social skills. The findings indicate that these programs can significantly reduce bullying incidents, although each program has its limitations, such as reliance on active student participation and resource constraints. This study emphasizes the importance of continuous training and school support for effective implementation. This research provides new insights for educators, practitioners, and policymakers in designing effective strategies to reduce bullying behavior and promote the development of empathy among adolescents

Optimizing PPKn Formative Test in Elementary School Level with Digital Food Education Game

This research discusses the importance of integrating digital learning media, particularly interactive formative tests based on regional food education games, to enhance the learning outcomes of Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) at the Elementary School (SD) level. The main goal of PPKn is to cultivate good character and citizenship in students. In the digital era, the use of technology is considered essential to provide a more interactive and engaging learning experience. This study employs a qualitative method and a case study framework to propose the implementation of interactive formative tests through digital learning media, focusing on the use of regional food education games. The research instruments involve the development and application of interactive formative tests based on food education games for SD students. Data are collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and the analysis of formative test results. The findings indicate that the implementation of interactive formative tests through digital learning media, particularly utilizing regional food education games, positively contributes to the learning outcomes of PPKn for SD students. Educational games not only enhance knowledge of traditional foods but also facilitate discussions on local wisdom, cultural diversity, and a sense of love for the homeland. The effectiveness of interactive formative tests is evident in the increased active participation of students in the learning process. This study suggests that the implementation of interactive formative tests through digital learning media, especially in the form of educational games, can serve as an effective model to improve PPKn learning outcomes at the SD level. Support from schools, teachers, and educational stakeholders is crucial to integrate technology in a relevant and meaningful way into student learning.

ANALISIS DAN PERANCANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI MANAJEMEN EKSTRAKURIKULER DI SD KARTKA X-3

SD Kartika X-3 stands out among elementary schools in West Bandung due to its exceptional non-academic achievements, which is why the school mandates student participation in extracurricular activities. However, managing a large number of extracurricular members poses challenges for the school. These issues encompass the registration process, reporting of values, data retrieval, and communication regarding extracurricular activities. To address these challenges, the authors have developed an Extracurricular Management Information System. Data collection methods employed include observation, interviews, and documentation, with the system development based on the prototype methodology. System analysis involves tools like Flowmap and evaluation tables, while system design employs UML diagrams, such as Use Case Diagrams, Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, and Class Diagrams, in addition to utilizing Balsamiq for interface design, and MySQL for database design. System testing is conducted using the BlackBox approach. The Extracurricular Management Information System streamlines extracurricular data management, prevents paper accumulation, and facilitates the generation of attendance reports.

Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Bahasa dengan Menggunakan Media Kartu Kata Bergambar pada Siswa di TK Al-Zaenab Jambangan Surabaya

The ability of early childhood language comprehension is an essential aspect of their cognitive development. This research aims to enhance the language comprehension skills of students at TK Al-Alzaenab Jambangan Surabaya through the implementation of picture card media. The method used is classroom action research (CAR), involving active participation of students in each stage of the learning activities. This research employs a qualitative approach by collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used data reduction, data display, and generalization. The research results show a significant improvement in students' language comprehension skills after using the picture card media. This indicates that the media is effective in enhancing language skills in early childhood. The implications of this research can be used as a reference for teachers and educational institutions in designing engaging and effective learning strategies to improve the language comprehension skills of kindergarten children.

Selecting the Best K Features for Predicting Student Participation in Generic Competency Development Activities in Higher Education

Generic competency (GC) is an essential but often overlooked aspect of developing students in higher education. While there is much research about using technologies to develop discipline- specific skills for students, the use of technologies in GC development is insufficient. In particular, more research is needed on using technologies to predict student participation in GC development activities (GCDAs). Machine learning (ML) can use student characteristics, known as features, to predict their involvement in GCDAs. However, too many features will slow down the prediction process and reduce the ability to pinpoint the best features for prediction. This study explored an effective way to identify the minimal number of features essential for predicting student participation in GCDAs. The findings help educators develop recommendation systems to help students select the most beneficial GCDA for their holistic development. We collected 98 features from 9570 students from a community college. Then, we applied the Principal Component Analysis and SelectKBest algorithms to reduce the number of features from 98 to 8. Finally, we compared the accuracy of predictions using KNN and ANN based on the all-feature dataset with those based on the reduced-feature dataset. The results showed that the reduced-feature dataset maintained good prediction accuracy and enabled the educator to recommend the GCDAs to students. The findings could drive further research and development in applying machine learning technologies to enhance the recommendations for GCDAs for higher-education students.

Unpacking dual effects of ambivalence toward technologies in online live streaming learning

PurposeShifting to OLSL classes during the pandemic can bring learners ambivalent experiences: negative, positive or both appraisals toward the technologies. However, few studies have examined how ambivalent experiences can influence students' learning behaviors, specifically cyberslacking and active participation. Using the challenge-hindrance stressor framework, this study investigates the impact of challenge and hindrance appraisals on these learning behaviors.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses a mixed methods approach to answer research questions. An interview was conducted to identify the key components of ambivalent appraisals, and a survey was conducted to empirically examine the impact of challenge and hindrance appraisals on learners' behaviors in online live streaming learning (OLSL) contexts. The data of 675 university students were analyzed using structural equation modeling.FindingsThis study found that hindrance appraisal leads to cyberslacking while challenge appraisal leads to active participation, but it can also cause cyberslacking. Social presence has a double-edged effect, acting as both a facilitator and inhibitor, strengthening the effect of hindrance appraisal on cyberslacking and the impact of challenge appraisal on active participation.Originality/valuePrior studies have primarily focused on the negative side (techno-distress) of technology appraisals. This study simultaneously examines the positive side, techno-eustress, on learners' behaviors in OLSL contexts, and explores the moderating effects of social presence. This study contributes to the technostress and technology adaptation literature by revealing how technology-induced ambivalent appraisals impact behavioral responses. It offers important theoretical and practical implications for education tool designers.

Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality in Higher Education: a systematic review

Augmented reality is a technology that combines elements of the real and virtual world to enhance the user experience by providing additional information and enriching interaction. In education, AR has been used to enhance the teaching of complex concepts by providing interactive content and immersive experiences. This review examines various aspects related to the implementation of AR in higher education, including its educational benefits, impact on student motivation and engagement, and its effectiveness in achieving learning objectives. Associated challenges and limitations, such as device availability and effective experience design, are also explored. The results indicate that AR can improve content comprehension and retention, encourage active student participation, and enhance collaborative learning. However, significant challenges are identified, such as the initial investment in technology and the need for adequate teacher training. In addition, diversity in institutional infrastructure and resources may limit the widespread adoption of AR in higher education. In conclusion, augmented reality in higher education offers promising potential to enhance teaching and learning, but its successful implementation requires careful considerations of pedagogy, accessibility, and overcoming technological barriers. It highlights the need for further research to thoroughly understand its impact and maximize its benefits in academic training.

Investigating The Influence of Teacher Aggression on Student Academic Motivation in Province of Sindh, Pakistan

The present study aimed to explore the impact of teacher aggressive behaviors on student academic motivation in Sindh, one of the provinces in Pakistan. A descriptive survey research design was employed, utilizing a sample of 120 public school teachers (70 female and 50 male). Data was collected using a researcher-developed instrument called the "Teachers Aggressive Behavior Survey" (TABS). The research questions were answered using descriptive statistics, including means and standard deviations, and the hypothesis was tested using t-test statistics at a significance level of 0.05. The results indicated that teachers exhibit various forms of aggressive behaviors that negatively impact student participation in academic activities. It is recommended that school administrators take steps to raise awareness among teachers about the detrimental effects of aggressive behaviors on student academic motivation.

Peningkatan Kesantunan Berbahasa Indonesia: Tulis dan Lisan dalam Literasi di SMPN 43 Padang

The activity aimed to improve the language skills of SMPN 43 Padang students, both written and verbal, in writing letters. It was considered necessary due to problems arising from the impoliteness of some students of junior high school in both oral and written communication for both formal and non-formal situations. The method used in this community service was participatory, planned by the Study Program of Indonesian Literature lecturer of Universitas Andalas. Furthermore, the team visited the service centre through observation and communication with SMPN 43 Padang teachers to look for problems and solutions related to language politeness in the school. After that, the team and teachers collaborated by compiling an agenda for implementing the engagement service. During the implementation stage, the material was presented, followed by the active participation of students through oral and written communication practices. In the final stage, an evaluation was conducted to formulate the main problems and assess subsequent developments after the community service activities. Based on the review carried out through an analysis of student work results, in the form of a comparison before and after receiving the material and engaging in writing practice, this service increased students' Indonesian politeness.

Research on the Current Situation and Countermeasures of Extracurricular Sports Activities for Female College Students in Jilin City

This article uses the literature method, questionnaire survey method and mathematical statistics method as the research methods. It takes female college students from Jilin Northeast Electric Power University, Jilin Medical University, and Jilin Beihua University as the survey subjects to investigate the participation of female college students in extracurricular sports activities in Jilin City. A series of analyzes and studies were conducted on attitudes, grade distribution, motivations, projects, forms, times, duration, location status and influencing factors. Female college students in Jilin City participate in extracurricular sports activities in a variety of ways. Most of them participate with classmates and friends and in various ways organized by the school. The main motivations are to enhance their physical fitness and enjoy physical and mental pleasure. The main participants in extracurricular sports activities are freshmen and sophomores, and most of the sports are less confrontational and suitable for women. Female college students in Jilin City mainly engage in extracurricular sports activities in free venues, and the time and frequency of activities are relatively reasonable. The factors that affect female college students’ participation in extracurricular sports activities are also multi-faceted. Among them, sports ability, personal interests, sports awareness, insufficient sports facilities, lack of organizational guidance, and campus sports atmosphere are all factors that restrict female college students’ participation in extracurricular sports activities.
