Abstract

Wes Koyo Anakku Dewe: Child Care for Migrant Workers by Relatives in Purwodadi Village, Donomulyo District, Malang Regency. Indonesian Migrant Workers are Indonesian citizens who will be, are currently or have done work by receiving wages outside the territory of the Republic of Indonesia (quoted from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.go.id 2020). The high number of migrant workers has various impacts, both positive and negative. The positive impact is an increase in foreign exchange for the country as well as the economic welfare of migrant families. Negative impacts also arise related to the increasing number of divorces for migrants, children from broken homes or being involved in juvenile delinquency. In Purwodadi Village, Donomulyo District, Malang Regency, there are also various dynamics related to migrant worker families. Therefore, this study aims to examine the dynamics related to APM, to describe the care that relatives provide and the reciprocity they provide for parenting. This study chose a focus location in Sidorejo Hamlet, Purwodadi Village, Donomulyo District. Due to the emergence of various dynamics related to APM. This study uses ethnographic methods with observation and interview data collection techniques. The selected informants are two families of migrant workers who involve the role of relatives, namely grandmothers. Then the founders and volunteers of the caring program. The results showed that grandmothers played the most important role in the domestic affairs of migrant workers' families as well as child care. Grandmother provides care that is seen in the form of care. The gift is classified as a free gift. Then the parents give reciprocity in the form of reciprocation or material. Relationships are formed so that reciprocal relationships are continuously carried out and create reciprocity. Keywords: Child care; child migrant workers; migrant workers; care; reciprocity
