Abstract
The article substantiates the need to use the term “imperative” to characterize the basic requirements for the formation and functioning of modern Ukrainian national education content. Compilation and systematization methods, retrospective and systematic analysis of philosophical, sociological, cultural, pedagogical works of scientists were used in the process of work on the topic to clarify the essence of the terms “imperative” and “content of national education”. The essence of the concept “imperative” is revealed as a principle that has the character of indisputable obligation and is based on deep moral and ethical beliefs. It is noted that value imperatives are always adaptable to social change. It is substantiated that the process of imperatives development acquires the character of continuous growth of new, improved rules of individuals’ interaction on the basis of those who have already completed their life cycle. The definition of the concept “national education content” has been presented. The importance of value imperatives as the most important factors in personal education has been considered. It is proved that the system of values and attitudes determines social development on the basis of human factor activation. The key imperatives of Ukrainian national education content through the prism of historical and cultural traditions, influences and axiological component (linguistic, social and civic content, man self-esteem, reorientation of society from mainly material to spiritual values of the nation and human civilization, etc.) have been determined. It is stated that the practical implementation of actual imperatives of Ukrainian national education content will contribute to the achievement of Ukrainians’ education goals at the present stage.
