Abstract
Physics has fared well in the UK government's latest round of science spending. As part of a 7% real-terms rise in the overall science budget between 2001 and 2004, the amount received by the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) will rise from £204m this year to £232m in 2003/4 (see previous page). And the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) will get an extra £111m over the three-year period.
