Abstract
Two novel coordination polymers (CPs) based on Co(II) ions as nodes {[Co2(HBTC)2(TIAB)](H2O)}n (1, TIAB = 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(1-imidazolyl)benzene, H3BTC = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) and {[Co3(BIMP)2(BTC)2(H2O)2]·3H2O}n (2, BIMP = 3,6-bis(imidazole-1-yl)pyridazine) are produced on the basis of the ligand H3BTC and distinct nitrogen-donor co-ligands (TIAB for the compound 1 and BIMP for the compound 2). The structural analysis results show that complex 1 has a 3D framework structure with a (4,6)-connected topological net based on the binuclear Co2 units, and complex 2 reflects a 3D framework structure with a (3,4)-connected topological net. For the treatment of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), their biological activities were also evaluated and the mechanism was revealed as well. Firstly, the mice model of COPD was established and compound 1 or 2 was injected for the indicated treatment. The partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) and oxygen (PaO2) was determined by the blood gas analysis. The inflammatory cytokines release was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The activation of the AMPK signaling pathway was determined by the real time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Finally, the accumulation of the ROS in alveolar epithelial cells was detected with flow cytometry. Compound 1 showed stronger biological activity than compound 2 on COPD treatment.
