Abstract
This study introduces an innovative system integrating visible light communication (VLC) and Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) technologies to enhance traffic flow and safety in urban roundabouts. The approach optimizes vehicle coordination and minimizes collision risks through advanced traffic management algorithms and infrastructure-to-vehicle communication. Simulations conducted on nine roundabouts in Suceava municipality demonstrate that the hybrid VLC–DSRC system improves traffic efficiency by over 80% and significantly reduces vehicle delays and congestion. Results emphasize the potential of this integrated solution in modernizing urban traffic systems while ensuring a high level of road safety.
