Abstract
This article presents a study of the Legislative Power in the Constitution of the Empire of 1824. As a strategy for this approach, it analyzes the structure, composition, and primary functions of the Legislative Power. From a methodological perspective, it predominantly focuses on the analyses of constitutional scholars, that is, those who have engaged in systematic explorations of the Constitution, as well as the texts dedicated to reflections on the Constitution of 1824 and documents that preceded it, which are indispensable for a comprehensive understanding of the historical, social, and political context. Upon concluding this analysis, the conclusion is reached that the Legislative Power played a pivotal role in the Brazilian constitutional monarchy, engaging actively in the formation of laws, the defense of individual rights, and the safeguarding of the Constitution of the Empire itself.
