Abstract
The US Department of Defense (DoD) has requirements for all sub-disciplines of toxicology. The applications of toxicology within the DoD support environmental protection, occupational health, and the safety of military systems and DoD-developed medical products. DoD is both a source of funding for, and performer of, toxicology studies. There are frequent solicitations by the DoD for toxicological services and studies. The vehicle for these solicitations is often a broad agency announcement emanating from service research management agencies, viz., the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR).
