Abstract

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is one of the centers of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which aims to reduce human illness and diseases by understanding the influence of environment on the growth and advancement of human disease. This is achieved by focusing on basic sciences, clinical, and translational research and supporting the next generation of environmental health scientists by providing training in multidisciplinary fields. To engage in such diverse research practices across the country NIEHS operates via three main divisions: the Division of Intramural Research, the Division of Extramural Research and Training, and the Division of the National Toxicology Program. These programs along with the Clinical Trial program and Global Environmental Health program demonstrate NIEHS's commitment for solving the environmental health issues across the globe.
