Abstract

Alcoholic beverages are consumed worldwide and have important health effects on multiple end-points including some cancers. Long-term alcohol consumption has consequences on health and well-being and, by extension, the lives of those around them. Because alcoholism affects many aspects of our society, clearly alcoholism has enormous social implications including burden on social and health services. The most important health effects of alcohol consumption are covered in this article.
