Abstract
Aim:: The aim of this study is to evaluate the changes in the total tooth length (TTL) during lower incisor retraction in Class I bimaxillary protrusion cases using cone-beam computed tomographic images. Materials and Methods:: Ten patients of both sexes undergoing orthodontic treatment with MBT-0.022 slot appliance were selected. Changes in the alveolar bone regions were measured in the mandibular anterior region using postretraction CBCT and preretraction CBCT, to evaluate the changes in the TTL during lower incisor retraction in Class I Bimaxillary protrusion cases. ONDEMAND Software was used for image processing and analysis with a screen resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels and 64-bit color. Results:: TTL was reduced when compared to the pretreatment CBCT images. The mean TTL (in mm) pretreatment (T0) is 18.38 and post-treatment (T1) is 17.38; the difference value (in mm) of mean TTL is 1.0 with P = 0.02. Conclusion:: The study showed that there was a decrease in the TTL.
