Abstract
Background:: Dental health plays a crucial role in overall well-being, yet oral disorders such as dental caries and gingivitis among children often go overlooked. Methodology:: This study assesses the oral health status and treatment needs of 500 children aged 7–12 years from private and government schools in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Conducted over 36 weeks using purposive sampling, the study evaluated oral hygiene through decayed, missing, and filled teeth (permanent) and decayed, missing, and filled teeth (primary) indices, along with gingival bleeding assessments. Results:: The findings highlight the need for targeted oral health education and preventive initiatives within schools to enhance children’s dental health and overall quality of life. Conclusion:: The study advocates for the integration of oral health promotion into school curricula, in line with World Health Organization recommendations.
