Conclusion: The rate of stunting among children aged 6-23 months in the commune in the study area is still high, especially in children aged 18-23 months. An organized effort should be made at all levels to improve maternal education, postnatal care practice to solve the problems of stunting in children, especially in such critical periods, to avoid its effect on future development of young children. Appropriate and early intervention should be designed at health facility and community level for mothers to have postnatal followup since it is an opportunity for health professional to give nutrition education for mothers. Further research should be conducted to investigate specific nutrient deficiency status (vitamin A, vitamin D, cailcium, zinc, iron, …) in body serum by using laboratory methods.
