Abstract
Human resource for health plays a vital role and has special meaning in improving effectiveness for the organization. This is cross-sectional study, combining quantitative and qualitative aims to fulfill two objectives: (1) to describe the job motivation of doctors, and (2) to analyze some factors affecting the job motivation of doctors at a district public hospital in Binh Thuan province, in 2023. Quantitative data was conducted via self-administered questionnaire among 51 doctors. Qualitative data was collected from 6 in-dept interviews and 2 focus groups discussion. Main findings: mean of motivation score of doctors is low (3.64/5); the proportion of doctors being motivated is 96.1%. Some of the factors posstively influence job motivation include strong leadership, management; friendly relationships with colleagues. Besides, some negative influencing factors including inadequate salary policies, additional income and other benefits, subpar working conditions and limited equipments; Conclusion: The work motivation of doctors at the hospital is at a moderate level. The hospital needs to establish mechanisms for recognition, rewards, and benefits for doctors. The hospital should explore ways to increase revenue and improve the working environment, as well as repair and supplement equipment in departments/rooms.
