Abstract

2]1 transition of Ar(I) in a facing target sputtering chamber is measured using aTi:sapphireringlaseratseveraloperatingconditions. DopplerwidthandlineintensityaredeterminedbyanalysisusingtheVoigtfunction. ThethermodynamictemperaturedeterminedfromtheDopplerwidthincreaseslinearlywithdischargecurrentandgaspressure. Thepopulationdensityfromthelineintensityisreducedtothereferencetemperature obtained by interpolating the discharge current to zero.
