Abstract

The development of technology in the industry 4.0 era makes it easy for students to carry out learning activities. This research uses the duolingo application as a learning medium. There are several apps that can help students learn English, especially learning vocabulary. These apps can also improve students' speaking, writing, reading and listening skills online. This study aims to implement the duolingo application to improve English vocabulary in STAR course junior high school students. This research is motivated by STAR course junior high school students who still have difficulty in mastering vocabulary. This research uses explanatory qualitative research methods. Researchers used observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection. The research questions are how the implementation of Cake application in learning English vocabulary. and how students' perception in using Duolingo application. The result of the research is that students are motivated and interested in using the duolingo application because it is easy to implement and has many features to improve vocabulary.
