We conducted a systematic literature review on international knowledge transfer (IKT) via international entrepreneurship (IE), synthesising fragmented research that employs various conceptualisations, methodological approaches and theoretical lenses. Based on a review of 40 articles, we inductively developed an analytical framework comprising four key elements: international knowledge, international knowledge agents, IKT processes and outcomes. Our review identifies three dominant types of international knowledge agents in IE: returnee entrepreneurs, transnational entrepreneurs and international corporate entrepreneurs who actively engage in IKT. Three distinctive IKT processes emerge: one‐way knowledge transfer, two‐way knowledge transfer and interactive knowledge transfer, which result in outcomes at individual, organisational, regional and national levels, as well as at their intersections. Guided by this framework, we identify and analyse key research themes, highlighting main methodological and theoretical approaches, and revealing significant gaps and inconsistencies. Our paper advances knowledge on IKT via IE by developing an integrated framework that provides conceptual clarity and a cohesive understanding of this intentional, systematic, outcome‐oriented process. Our analytical framework facilitates the identification of future research directions along the dimensions of 5Cs: complementarity of knowledge, (re‐)contextualisation of knowledge, connectivity of knowledge, community capitalism and cross‐disciplinary research.

Background: Veterinary research on abattoirs and animal slaughter published in Indonesian journals requires comprehensive evaluation due to its close relevance to animal-derived food production and public health. Purpose: This systematic review analyzes studies on abattoirs and slaughter practices published from 2014 to 2024 in 20 Indonesian veterinary journals, including 13 SINTA-accredited and 7 non-accredited journals. Review: A total of 37 articles were examined to identify research themes, methodological approaches, study designs, analytical techniques, and disciplinary focuses. Result: Publication trends over the decade fluctuated, with no significant correlation between publication year and article count (r = 0.43; p > 0.05). Cattle were the most frequently examined species (13 studies), showing a significant difference in the distribution of research subjects (χ² = 79.50; p = 6.15 × 10-14). Quantitative and mixed-method approaches were the most commonly used (17 and 19 studies), and their adoption differed significantly (χ² = 11.80; p = 0.0027). The descriptive survey design dominated the literature (32 studies), with a significant difference from other designs (χ² = 21.85; p = 0.000018). Differences in analytical techniques were not significant (χ² = 94.49; p = 1.47 × 10-19), although descriptive analysis was most frequently applied. Veterinary public health was the primary disciplinary focus (15 studies), but the overall disciplinary distribution was not significantly different (χ² = 1.121; p = 0.993). Conclusion: This review provides a concise overview of research priorities and methodological patterns in Indonesian veterinary literature on abattoirs and animal slaughter. The findings highlight the dominance of descriptive and mixed-method studies, the strong focus on public health, and the need for more diverse methodological and disciplinary approaches in future research.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive understanding of workplace spirituality's (WPS) past, present and future by conducting a systematic literature review over the past 15 years, tracing its emergence in the managerial landscape and identifying the research gaps. Design/methodology/approach A PRISMA framework is used to systematically analyse 58 empirical studies categorised according to the ABDC journal quality list and published between 2009 and 2024. Furthermore, this review highlights the key trends, methodological approaches, dimensions explored, geographic distribution, research themes and the existing research gaps. Additionally, the Theory, Context, Characteristics and Methodology framework emphasises critical theoretical perspectives, contextual factors, distinguishing characteristics and methodological approaches that can shape future research in WPS. Findings The review revealed the global interest in WPS’s positive organisational impacts, supported by rigorous empirical studies and advanced statistical methods. Furthermore, this research highlights a significant gap in exploring WPS antecedents, suggesting a need for future studies to examine the factors contributing to WPS’s development and enhancement within organisational settings. Research limitations/implications This study focuses on the Scopus database and English-language papers, deliberately excluding other sources such as unpublished work, books and non-empirical articles. Consequently, this study may need to look at some relevant studies. Originality/value This study is original in its systematic approach to review the literature on WPS, categorising the empirical articles according to established quality lists and applying the Theory, Context, Characteristics and Methodology framework to identify future research directions. This paper offers a holistic understanding of WPS and provides valuable insights for researchers and practitioners in this evolving field.

In this interview, Prof. Timothy Ashplant reflects autobiographically on the intersecting effects – on his chosen research topics, and methodological approaches – of his social location (within successive educational institutions, in a first booming and then de-industrialising Britain), his professional position (working in a Polytechnic/"New Univer-sity"), and the knowledge exchanges arising from his involvement in successive and over-lapping (formal and informal, national and then international) scholarly networks. A member of the post-war "baby-boom" generation, whose student years included the multi-ple upheavals of 1968, he became and remains a member of a political and cultural gener-ation whose concerns – a desire to democratise society and remove (multiple) social and economic inequalities – shaped the matrix within which he formulated historical questions. He traces the impact on his research themes and methods of the transitions from labour to social and cultural history; the development of interdisciplinary approaches; and a grow-ing focus on the construction of class, national and gendered subjectivities, theorised through psychoanalytic concepts and investigated through the analysis of ego-documents. He concludes by evaluating both the defeats and the achievements of his generation's am-bitions, and the continuing relevance of the questions which British social and cultural historians have explored to current crises in Britain and elsewhere in Europe.

Biological and human-cultural diversity are crucial aspects of sustainable life on this planet, a fact that was recognized by the United Nations which declared 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity. Managing diversities in urban contexts, where more than half of the world's population currently live, represents a fundamental aim for sustainable urban development. If this is to be achieved it requires collaboration among different scientific and technical disciplines, many of which are represented in this book. Drawing on a diversity of epistemological, theoretical, and methodological approaches is key to understanding people-environment relations and for promoting the quality of urban life. The volume is organized around different research themes, relevant for understanding current trends and future developments in the study of people-urban environment relations, with an emphasis on the key concept of diversity. This is explored in relation to: # Theoretical and methodological approaches # Visual processes and urban landscapes # Urban green spaces # People's lifestyles and urban sustainability # Social groups and inclusive urban environments

Readers of Global Gender Research will learn to compare and contrast feminist concerns globally, gain familiarity with the breadth of gender research, and understand the national contexts that produced it. This volume provides an in-depth comparative picture of the current state of feminist sociological gender and women's studies research in four regions of the world—Africa, Asia, Latin America/the Caribbean, and Europe—as represented by many countries. The introductory essay to each region explains how social science research on women and/or gender issues has been shaped by economics, politics, and culture, and by trends that are simultaneously local, regional, and global. It familiarizes readers with the wide range of salient issues, research methods, writing styles, and leading authors from around the globe. Each regional section includes several chapters on gender research in specific countries that represent the region's diversity and cover the major theoretical and empirical trends that have emerged over time, as well as the relationship of key research questions to feminist activism and women’s or gender studies. Next, the editors illustrate this new wave of gender scholarship with translated/reprinted samples of research articles from additional countries in the region, that cover a wide range of important global topics—such as work, sexuality, masculinities, childcare and family issues, religion, violence, law and gender policies. Finally, this volume provides scholars with extensive bibliographies and a listing of web sites for women’s and gender research centers in 85 countries.

This study takes on the challenge of quantifying a complex causal loop diagram describing how poverty and health affect each other, and does so using longitudinal data from The Netherlands. Furthermore, this paper elaborates on its methodological approach in order to facilitate replication and methodological advancement. After adapting a causal loop diagram that was built by stakeholders, a longitudinal structural equation modelling approach was used. A cross-lagged panel model with nine endogenous variables, of which two latent variables, and three time-invariant exogenous variables was constructed. With this model, directional effects are estimated in a Granger-causal manner, using data from 2015 to 2019. Both the direct effects (with a one-year lag) and total effects over multiple (up to eight) years were calculated. Five sensitivity analyses were conducted. Two of these focus on lower-income and lower-wealth individuals. The other three each added one exogenous variable: work status, level of education, and home ownership. The effects of income and financial wealth on health are present, but are relatively weak for the overall population. Sensitivity analyses show that these effects are stronger for those with lower incomes or wealth. Physical capability does seem to have strong positive effects on both income and financial wealth. There are a number of other results as well, as the estimated models are extensive. Many of the estimated effects only become substantial after several years. Income and financial wealth appear to have limited effects on the health of the overall population of The Netherlands. However, there are indications that these effects may be stronger for individuals who are closer to the poverty threshold. Since the estimated effects of physical capability on income and financial wealth are more substantial, a broad recommendation would be that including physical capability in efforts that are aimed at improving income and financial wealth could be useful and effective. The methodological approach described in this paper could also be applied to other research settings or topics.

Increasingly, understanding behaviour requires a multidimensional conceptual and methodological approach. A historical analysis of social psychology leads to the identification of separate and clear psychological, sociological, and cultural perspectives in the thinking and research of the field. In an overview of the highlights of each orientation, this paper identifies the way in which each subbranch of social psychology flourished and is closely tied to the psycho‐socio‐cultural ecosystem in which its theoreticians and researchers developed. Evident from this process is the inclination of psychological researchers to stress functional aspects of behaviour and utilize experimental methodologies; the sociological orientation stresses structural variables and is inclined toward observational and field descriptive studies; and cultural investigation tends to pull from both the psychological and sociological perspectives and places major interest on the ecosystem in which behaviour presents itself. Linked to individual researchers' interests and training, and congruent with the sociocultural parameters and ecosystem in which Latin American social psychologists have evolved, novel indigenous interpretations of each social psychology have emerged. Documentation of the research topics, preferred theoretical and methodological approaches, and idiosyncratic findings is presented for the emergence of social psychology in Latin America. Emphasis is placed on the process of creating and shaping an indigenous view of social psychological thought, in which phenomena derived from a combination of one of the three views, and the behavioural manifestations and ideas representative of autochthonous everyday life, are stressed. As a conclusion, true to its upbringing, and born out of a perennial antithesis between mainstream thought and mundane reality, both a series of replications and novel conceptualizations and findings have emerged that have a distinct psychological, sociological, and cultural flavour.

This study aims to create a scientific map of supply chain automation research focusing on human resources management, which will be applicable in practice and widen the knowledge in theory. It introduces the scientific articles, subject areas and dominant research topics related to supply chain automation, focusing on human resources management. In this study, 509 publications retrieved from the Scopus database were analyzed by a novel methodological approach – a smart bibliometric literature review using Latent Dirichlet Allocation with Gibbs sampling. The study processes scientific articles with automated tools. It uses a novel machine-learning-based methodological approach to identify latent topics from many scientific articles. This approach creates the possibility of comprehensively capturing the areas of supply chain automation focusing on human resources management and offers a science map of this rapidly developing area. This kind of smart literature review based on a machine learning approach can process a large number of documents. Simultaneously, it can find topics that a standard bibliometric analysis would not show. The authors of the study identified six topics related to supply chain automation, focusing on human resources management, specifically (1) network design, (2) sustainable performance and practices, (3) efficient production, (4) technology-based innovations and changes, (5) management of business and operations, and (6) global company strategies. The study’s results offer key insights for decision-makers, illuminating essential themes related to automation integration in the supply chain and the vital role of human resources in this transformation. The limitations of this study are the qualitative level of results provided by the machine learning approach, which does not contain manual analysis of documents and the subjectivity of the expert process to set the appropriate number of topics.

ObjectiveAlmost 80% of the patients responding to the nationwide French patient experience and satisfaction survey (e-Satis) provided free text comments. The objective of this article is to describe an innovative methodology for analysis of this qualitative data. MethodologyThis methodological approach is based on analysis of qualitative data from the comments (verbatims) of respondents to the e-Satis survey. Analysis of the verbatims consists in three main steps: (i) analysis of the meaning of the words, with constitution of a thematic dictionary through exploratory research without preconceived notions; (ii) analysis of the syntax, i.e., the way in which the ideas are articulated, which will enable calculation of a linguistic indicator of speakers’ involvement in their speech; (iii) production of statistics and characterisation of the themes, which will include three indicators: occurrence of the themes, the average satisfaction shown in the respondents’ discourse, and the positive and negative involvement with which they express themselves. Given these results, a priority matrix of four categories of action is established: strong points, priority areas, good practices, and weak signals. ResultsThis methodological approach was applied to 5868 e-Satis questionnaires out of a total of 10,061 verbatims by respondents hospitalised at the Hospices Civils de Lyon between 2018 and 2019. The analysis identified 28 major themes with 184 sub-themes. An extract is presented in this article for illustration purposes. DiscussionA methodological approach based on analysis of qualitative data will enable transformation of unstructured data (verbatims) into measurable and comparable data. This methodology is structured to overcome the limitations of closed questions; open questions allow respondents to describe their experiences and perceptions in their own words. Moreover, it is a first step toward comparability of results over time with those of other establishments. This approach is unique in France on account of (a) its exploratory thematic research without preconceived notions and (b) its syntactic analysis of verbatims. ConclusionsThis verbatim analysis methodology should enable precise and operational characterization of Patient Experience and induce prioritized improvement actions in healthcare institutions.
