Abstract

The diffuse phase transition of fluorite-type superionic conductors will be studied in terms of the Bragg-Williams and the quasichemical approximation. The results are compared with experimental data taken from the literature. Improvements of the above-mentioned approximations, taking care of the long-range interactions, have been suggested. Good agreement between our theoretical results and experiment has been found. In addition, we have studied the effect of doping with trivalent cations. In agreement with experimental observations we find that the superionic phase transition shifts to lower temperatures with increasing concentrations of trivalent ions.
