Abstract
Mössbauer spectra of mixed crystals in the Fe(P, Al)PO 4 · 2H 2O systems have been studied. The Mössbauer parameters, δ(isomer shift), ΔE(quadrupole splitting) and I (relative absorption intensity) thus obtained have been interpreted in terms of foreign ion concentration, chemical bonding and crystal structure. The isomer are in the range 0·58–0·75 relative to sodium nitroprusside indicating typical bondingin the compounds. The magnitude of ΔE is predominantly influenced by one of the components having large ΔE in the mixed crystals. An attempt has been made to correlate the quadrupole splitting with the spin density measured by E.S.R.
