Abstract
A method is described for the determination of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) in biological fluids in the presence of bilirubin, which interferes. The mechanism of the interference is discussed. Ranges of serum and amniotic fluid NEFA levels in patients undergoing management of Rh-incompatible pregnancies are given. The maternal serum: amniotic fluid for NEFA is of the order of 24:1.
