Abstract
The article reveals the specifics of the internal picture of health of patients with burn injury. Based on theoretical analysis, it was established that the internal picture of health in conditions of burn injury significantly changes a person's ideas about his/ her health. The internal picture of health of such patients is characterised by inadequate emotional reactions to the conditions of an intensive care unit, aggressiveness and hostility towards medical staff, violation of the “body schema”, development of bodily dysfunction. In the behavioural component of the internal picture of health, active rejection of thoughts about the disease, denial of one's own physical defects and “escape into the illness” are distinguished.
