Abstract

This study analyses the influence of information systems and information technology on work effectiveness, with communication as a mediator. The research was conducted on 35 warehouse employees at an SME AKR Food Company in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia. The research results show that information systems do not significantly influence communication, but have a significant direct influence on work effectiveness. Information technology also has a significant direct influence on communication and work effectiveness. Communication mediates the influence of information technology on work effectiveness. Optimizing communication through intelligent management control and reporting systems, short interval control and escalation procedures can increase work effectiveness. This study introduces additional contributions in linking information systems, information technology, communication, and work effectiveness in SME companies, and emphasizes the importance of formulating clear information systems to overcome communication limitations in order to achieve optimal work effectiveness.
