Abstract
This article aims to share my experience as a new nurse in ophthalmology and my thoughts during the _first 6 months. It also addresses the impact of best practice on the reduction of avoidable complications and blindness in ophthalmology, and highlights specific nursing objectives and how these goals were attained to become valuable in my newly chosen career pathway.
