Abstract

The species found in Mozambique and surrounding waters belonging to family Mitromorphidae Casey, 1904, are revised and figured. From a total number of 36 species, 13 were already described, Anarithma alphonsiana (Hervier, 1900); A. aurea Boyer & Renda, 2022; A. borbonica Boyer & Renda, 2022; A. lachryma (Reeve, 1845); A. maesi Drivas & Jay, 1986; A. melvilli Boyer, 2022; A. metula (Hinds, 1843); A. pamila (Duclos, 1848); Lovellona atramentosa (Reeve, 1849); Mitromorpha candeopontis Chino & Stahlschmidt, 2009; M. fischeri (Hervier, 1900); M. kilburni Drivas & Jay, 1986 and M. punctata Chino & Stahlschmidt, 2009; while 23 have been considered new for the Science, being described and represented in the present work. These are: Anarithma aurantioquadrata, Mitromorpha albobandata, M. carsteni, M. castanea, M. chuliae, M. conduciensis, M. eucitharomorpha, M. gianuzzii, M. gloriosensis, M. harasewichi, M. nampulae, M. nappoi, M. purpurolineata, M. pusaterii, M. rosacea, M. ruelai, M. rufolineata, M. rufomaculata, M. sera, M. templadoi, M. uniplicata, M. valverdei and M. verdejoi. Mitromorpha candeopontis Chino & Stahlschmidt, 2009 and Mitromorpha punctata Chino & Stahlschmidt, 2009 are cited for first time from West Indian Ocean.
