Abstract

Extraction equilibrium constants are presented for the extraction of Hg(II) from iodide solutions and Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) from hydrochloric acid solutions by aliquat 336 dissolved in chloroform. When included with a previous study [1] the results show that the extraction order is Hg(iodide) > Hg(chloride) > Cd > Zn > Cu. A correlation is made between the extraction behaviour and the response of coated-wire ion-selective electrodes prepared using halometal complex salts of aliquat 336.
