Abstract

AbstractThe educational objectives in information science should focus on (1) theory concerning information, its environment and its relationship to information systems; (2) information systems; (3) information services and their administration. The program must be sufficiently flexible to allow students to specialize in areas of their personal interest or in the choice of their careers. A common core, if it exists, must transcend all professional interest in information science. Such a core would relate to those elements which are common to information irrespective of their environment.
