Abstract
The most satisfactory method for the determination of nitric acid in the presence of uranyl nitrate was the sodium oxalate complexing of uranium. The determinaiion of nitric acid in the organic phase was carried out by back extraction into a constant volume of water, addition of 2% sodium oxalate solution to the aqueous backwash, and titration with 0.5N sodium hydroxide using phenophihalein as indicator. The value obtained was corrected by comparison with a blank. (J.E.D.)
