He formerly held Lectureships and Senior Lectureships at Lowestoft School of Art, and Leeds and Leicester Colleges of Art, and a Deanship at Cardiff College of Art before moving to Canada in 1977. He holds or has held Visiting Professorships at the national centres of art and design education in Germany, Holland, France, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and Britain (the Royal College of Art), and is an educational consultant to Canadian Television and also to many national governments.
