Abstract

The article refers to a participant research carried out with the experience of initiation to teaching at PIBID. The investigation aimed to understand the contributions of recreational activities and theatrical games for the development of children in the fourth year of elementary school in a public school in the city of Irecê Bahia. The research work was carried out in the semester 2071.2 in the axis called by the school as “humanization cycle, and, integral and integrated formation” and took place in observations of art classes. The study continued with other observations and a semi-structured interview with the art teacher responsible for the mentioned class. The reports give an account of their playful practices applied in the classroom, and also analyze the work carried out in the assembly of the theater play Flicts by Ziraldo (1969), and, as the theater, theatrical games and performances provide clues to think about the appreciation of theater at school. The reflections provide clues for thinking about the children's development, based on the eloquence in the speeches, the body posture, the creativity in giving life to the character on stage, and especially the loss of shyness in theatrical construction when introducing his role. The class's growth was noticeable through theatrical games, especially by the student Pinocchio, who in the observations during some classes, was introspective with little interaction with his colleagues, however, the absence of one of the participants made the student offer himself to play the role, demonstrating great performance and involvement with the theatrical game. In writing, the option is to insert pseudonyms to identify the participants, safeguarding their identities. The theoretical contribution includes Barbosa (2012), Spolin (2008), Boal (1999), Slade (1978), Japiassu (2001), Kischimoto (1998), Brandão (1998), Freire (2014), Libâneo (2013) and Ludke; André, (1986).
