Abstract

Abstract Complexes of Palladium(II), platinum(II) and rhodium(III) with 2,6-diminopyridine and its 4-methoxy and 4-ethoxy derivatives have been synthesized. Their antimitogenic activity has been measured as indicated by their inhibition of DNA synthesis which in turn was determined by the uptake of tritiated thymidine. Platinum(II) complexes showed high antimitogenic activity and low toxicity, palladium(II) complexes were moderately active, while rhodium(III) complexes enhanced thymidine uptake. The behavior of rhodium(III) complexes is of particular interest since it may suggest that such complexes may exhibit antitumor activity by enhancing the immune response of the system.
