Abstract

In this paper the anode effect in molten salts electrolysis was studied. We reported the experimental results of the potential voltammogram and cathodic oscillogram studies, as well as the observative results of voltage wave with high frequency and the jet action from the anode during the anode effect. These are very interesting studies. We also discussed the mechanism of initiation of anode effect in molten salts. There may be two types of anode effect: (1) the initiation of anode effect is due to the formation of some intermediate compounds on the anode: (2) the initiation of anode effect is simply due to an accumulation of gas bubbles on the anode.
