Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the eruption of Mount Sinabung on the agricultural sector in northern Sumatra Karo district and efforts to overcome. This research is a descriptive qualitative approach is the approach that collects information from key informants, key informants were people living around Mount Sinabung in Karo intersection of four districts. Techniques of data collection using questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The data have been obtained validity tested by observation and triangulation techniques perseverance. Analysis of the data reduction phase, classification, and interpretation of data, and make conclusions. The results of this study found that (1) Mount Sinabung eruption since 15 September to 4 February 2014 resulted in agricultural crops (food and horticulture) in 14 districts Karo suffered losses estimated at Rp1,568 trillion Rupiah.
