Abstract

This study aims to determine the existence of informal and non-formal education Post disaster Sinabung in regency Karo, North Sumatra. This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach is the approach that gather information from key informants, key informants is the Head of Education Department of Curriculum and refugee communities in the district. Karo. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The data have been obtained validity tested by observation and triangulation techniques perseverance. The analysis of data reduction phase, classification, and interpretation of data, and making conclusions. The results of this study found that: Non-formal education includes basic education, and continuing education. Basic education includes basic literacy, functional literacy and advanced literacy, Based on data PAUDNI Basic Education Directorate, the number of early childhood institutions in Karo reached 224 institutions, To deal with the National Examination for middle and high school students, UNIMED and USU provides tutoring as teaching materials discussion of every level of school, In addition to the education given to the students are also given training to refugee women victims of the eruption of Mount Sinabung who have left their homes nearly eight months, Refugees residing in Cape Pulo Post and Post Cape Mbelang, District Tiganderket Karo also given aid training.
