Introduction

No one can deny that advances in information technology coupled with the changes in society are creating new paradigms for education and training. These changes will affect our education and training systems. One of the approaches which reflects the principles of learner- centeredness is Problem–Based Learning (PBL).The theoretical foundation of Problem-based learning is strongly grounded on constructivism. In this regard, Railsback (2002: 6) maintains that "Problem-based instruction strategies have their roots in the constructivist approach". It commonly includes the ideas of Dewey's philosophy, Piaget's cognitive theory, and Vygotsky's social constructivist theory
