Abstract

The research was developed to know how storytelling can help students develop the Speaking skills at early ages through tales and stories. The purpose of this investigation is to analyze the importance of storytelling for improving the English Language speaking skill among students of second basic education in Arcesio Gonzalez Velez school. After the Observation process it was identified that many students do not like English because they do not understand or maybe they cannot pronounce the words to communicate their ideas; these difficulties can be for many reasons such as little practice in English class, also the pronunciation of the article, THE, most of them translate to the mother tongue what they want to say, some of them have problems when they use plural nouns, they cannot develop role plays because they do not understand what the other person say, they need to improve to respond quickly. The situation at the public school is worrying because students are not motivated, and they do not have enough time and all materials to develop their speaking skills. Students need to improve their speaking skill through new strategies and materials with which students feel more comfortable and freer to speak in class. Teachers must keep in mind that time changes and it is very important to update the techniques, methods and materials used to teach the English language and to improve the speaking ability of their students. The use of Storytelling is a strong suggestion for pedagogy nowadays. This element can facilitate communication between students and lost the fear to speak in English.
