Abstract
A spectrophotometric study of the uranium(VI)-3-acetyl4-hydroxycoumarin complex was made in about 95% ethanol. The complex was found to have a molar composition of 1: 1 and obeys Lambert-Beer's law at 380 m mu in the range of 0 to 57.0 ppm of uranium. The presence of a hydrogen bonded system in the molecule was confirmed by the infrared spcctrum of the componnd in chloroform, which showed a diffused absorption band at 3080 cm/sup -1/ and a shift in the acetyl carbonyl frequency to 1625 cm/sup -1/.
