Abstract

Kolkata Tramway is one of those heritage in India which dated back to British era and still in working condition around the city. From pre independence to post independence people of Kolkata using this convenient transportation service in their everyday life. Although due to the onslaught of modernisation, advancement in transportation systems and time factor of peoples’ everyday decreased the value of tram services with time. ‘Smaranika’ tram museum, is an initiative taken by Government of West Bengal to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Kolkata’s iconic tram service and its history. This paper explores the overall analysis of the current condition of the museum as well as discussion of the museum itself.
