Abstract
Contrary to the common belief, signalling system is of little importance in the implementation of simulation model for evaluation of dc power feeding systems. This is because there is little need for consideration of fluctuation in train operations if the program is used for optimal design of the system. In general, signalling system is only necessary if fluctuation is considered. On the other hand, however, the authors have shown that there are many possibilities in the integration of power feeding and train dispatching systems. Naturally, many optimization strategies for the integrated system should be evaluated. Since the role of train dispatching system is to cope with unexpected operational situations, various kinds of fluctuation in train operations should be considered in the evaluation, and implementation of signalling system becomes important. The authors propose a promising strategy of avoiding intermediate stops of trains, and reveal its possibility with some simulation results obtained by the authors' simulation program called RTSS.
