Abstract

AbstractSilver halide hydrosols make good model systems substituting for photographic emulsions in having similar surface/volume ratios, but without the complications of the colloid binder, whose specific effect can thus be studied conveniently. Methods of preparation and some of the results on chemical sensitization of sols are reviewed, with particular stress on latent-imagc stability which essentially depends on the binder. New data show that the stabilizing action of gelatin fractions increases with their molecular weight.
