Abstract

Objective To investigate the level and influencing factors of self-perceived burden(SPB) among elderly patients undergoing coronary artery stent implantation (CASI). Methods A total of 96 elderly patients undergoing CASI and their caregivers were investigated by a self-signed demographic questionnaire, self-perceived burden scale (SPBS) and general self-efficacy scale (GSES). Results The total score of SPBS and GSES were (31.21±6.51) and (28.43±3.38), showing a middle level of SPB and GSES. The family income, degree of disease understanding, severity degree of the disease, self-care ability, caregiver′s health status and self-efficacy were proved to be the influencing factors of SPB. Conclusions Most elderly patients undergoing CASI experienced obvious SPB which was affected by multiple factors. Nurses should take proper measures to alleviate the patients′ SPB and improve their quality of life. Key words: Elderly; Coronary heart disease; Coronary artery stent implantation; Self-perceived burden
