Abstract
This study delves into the transformative potential of Community-Based Tourism (CBT) in rural India, exploring its multifaceted impacts on economic development, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability. CBT, characterized by active community participation, empowers local residents to shape and manage tourism initiatives, fostering economic growth and reducing poverty. The preservation of India׳s diverse cultural heritage takes center stage, with CBT actively engaging tourists in traditional activities to safeguard traditions from modernization. Environmental sustainability is a key focus, emphasizing responsible resource management. Despite its promise, challenges such as limited infrastructure, financial constraints, and cultural sensitivity pose hurdles. Addressing these challenges is crucial for the sustainable development of rural community tourism. The study underscores the need for strategic interventions, government support, and collaborative efforts to unlock the full potential of CBT, reshaping rural landscapes and fostering enduring prosperity.
