Abstract

ObjectiveWe study the pupillary area before and after Color Doppler (CD) stimulus in fetuses with nervous system malformations before 23rd weeks of gestation Material And MethodThe pupils of 10 fetuses with nervous system malformations were studied between the 16th-23rd weeks using ultrasounds. The pupillary areas before and after CD stimulation were compared with normal data previously published ResultsThe great majority of the fetuses have some data out of range in the relationship pupil/iris in basal conditions or after CD. Usually, we observed an atypical response and/or an exaggerated response (hyperreflexia) ConclusionThese results allow increase the possibilities of this type of test about fetal study that we perform before the 22nd weeks of gestation. This test could be a type of test that shows the fetal synaptic status of a kind of nervous pathway and the reflexical status of the fetus
